Can I say, for the record, Miles Teller is pretty much the next Jonah Hill/Vince Vaughn. I mean that with all the best intentions. Seriously, this dude has some amazing comedic delivery. Despite the fact that he's appeared in a few bombs (e.g 21 and Over), this one looks like a pretty good flick. After seeing the trailer, I have faith. It looks pretty damn funny.
He was definitely the best part of the film, he was hilarious. I hadnt really seen anything he was in before this, besides his bit role in Project X, but I think this guy really has a future in Hollywood after watching this and The Spectacular Now.
His casting in The Spectacular Now was a stroke of good luck because he was essentially playing himself. It was a good film.
But every other role of his? The same thing: himself -- a loud, douchey fratboy type. As I said, this worked in Spectacular Now because his character was intended to come across precisely that way. But he's gonna have to switch things up if he doesn't want to get typecast the way Vince Vaughn did (a good comparison, btw - they both do the same shtick in every single film).
Oh man, all the replies to this thread are so entertaining and hilarious. Seems this guy (and his unique "look") rub an awful lot of people the wrong way. Over a year later, yea, this guy is one of those fresh face/"it" actors who end up booking like half a dozen films in the span of like 18 months or something. Like others, I'm not really sold on his future (long term) though I think it would be a tough bet to predict who will have the better post-TAM career: him or Efron.
I thought he was alright in this movie and had good comedic delivery (though I wouldn't exactly compare it to Jonah Hill, haha). The only other things I have seen him in were "Project X" (eh) and "Divergent" (ugh, dreadful in that role). I don't think it is difficult to imagine the FF reboot (with him as one of the leads) will be a major turning point in his acting career. Time will tell.
