What's with these stupid interrogations and searching for evidence??? NO FUN!!!!!
shareWhat's with these stupid interrogations and searching for evidence??? NO FUN!!!!!
shareIndeed. I was really excited about the game up until when i realised there was nothing more to the game than interactive interogation. I dont know why they chose this over fun.

Shoulda known what to expect tardcart
shareOmg, didnt you read about the game before trying it? Its supposed to be that way.
"I dont know why they chose this over fun." Are you serious? YOU dont think its fun because you are probobly one of those premature COD-fans.
ALOT of people actually do think its fun. This game isnt supposed to be action all the time and killing hookers with baseballbats. This is for people who actually are interested in a different slow-pased game.
"I like to rock n' roll part of every day."
Listen, not everyone must like this game. However, If you did, i am happy for you. Try to make your points without insulting the opinions of others in the process.

I completely agree! This game was so artistic, beautiful, and intriguing! I would prefer all video games to be this emotionally captivating as opposed to guttural mindless murder. I was actually bored playing any of the CoD's! LA Noire was one of the best!

Actually you do fail the case if you get a lot of questions wrong and arrest the wrong people. It's just like Heavy Rain, whatever you do wrong or right will affect the outcome of the game.
sharelet me explain this that this game is not all bad like real cops you have to study the person’s face to see if there lying or not. not all people are truthful like if your dad or uncle was a cop they would know how to play this game look in the instruction manual. It shows 1-4 the person’s face that will help keep an out for anything wrong that way you will know if the person is lying to you. If he or she lies like turns away or you know that is how you read them. try practicing on a person next time you play . See the game goes back to the days of like Dick Tracy or those old 30 movies.

yeah did you read anything about the game before playing it ???? before i bought l.a noire i knew the game was about searching for clues and interrogate people ect....

What's your age and what kind of games do you like? Or are you just being a troll?
You know the escape.
"Dude I wanna blow *beep* up and run over women pushing prams and beat hookers to death with a bat! I don't actually want a game where I have to THINK!"
Grow the f*$!k up.

Yup, just what I thought. This is Videogame Marmite. You will love it, or hate it.
I'm 40 years old and for the first time feel as though I've played a game with considerable emotional depth. The story was engaging, the acting was brilliant and I found myself getting pulled into their world in the same way as a good novel.
If you want to blow stuff up and shoot bad guys, this game will frustrate you and put you to sleep. I can't imagine many 12 year old's enjoying the subtle complexities of the characters for a 20 hour story.

While I do love the mayhem of Grand Theft Auto, LA Noire is refreshing to me. I don't really have any problems with it. If you want over the top violence and action then just play any other GTA, Call Of Duty or Gears Of War. I have already banged hookers, blown up cars, and set homeless people on fire millions of times (what is wrong with me?). Why do i need to do the same things all over again in LA Noire? And there is shooting in this game. It's not as frequent as in other games but I appreciate the shooting sequences more because I am not always doing it. Things can be more enjoyable when they are rare.
shareWell, you are a cop, you can't do what you used to do when you were a criminal in GTA 4
But yeah, like the other poster said, grow the f-ck up.
Why is it so easy for children to break into The Pentagon?
im on the fence with the game, i like the story although its not really going anywhere yet, to be fair ive not played it much, first few hours only. ive noticed that the side missions are carbon copies, same over and over again it seems, i swear ive done the same side mission twice in same location. freaky. I also dont feel like a cop at times, someone rammed into me?!?!?! i couldnt even arrest or do anything about it....very stupid.
progression from beat cop to next level definatly to short, even though i dont feel like ive done much in game, im 20% complete???
i didnt expect grand theft auto but i do understand some of the complaints...some people need to get off their high horses, i havent had to think much in the game and ive only mucked up on like one question.
anyhow, ill continue playing the game as its interesting.
'All for one and one for all! You go first, I've got a bad leg.'
The foundation of the game - using your noggin to interrogate properly, find evidence, follow leads, and go in for the arrest/kill - it's just not what I'm looking for in a fun game. I like a moderate amount of thinking/puzzle solving, but there's too much of it in this game. For me there is a fine line between the thinking and action where it's a blast for me to play and when it becomes boring. L.A. Noire falls on the boring side. Games like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Hitman, and Dead Rising (1) are kick ass fun games for me. Whatever, I'm done with the L.A. Noire game and back to more fun games. It gets a 2/10 rating by me.
shareyes the element of fun is dumbed down, i think they will get balance right next time around....very good attempt though.
obviously it dosent need to be gta, but it would be nice to free roam in parts and notice crimes, and other events, and pull up and arrest people or something like that, make it feel a bit more real, would have been nice to be a beat cop longer. unfortunatly they are just tutorial levels.
its nice not to be a rampaging criminal, but they could have explored being a cop further, in a more open world gta style, allow you to pull your gun, but if you shoot someone innocent for fun, then it would be a fail (game over).
just my thoughts anyway.
'All for one and one for all! You go first, I've got a bad leg.'
It's not without its flaws, but anyone who says the game is boring hasn't gotten far enough into the game. The final 3rd of the game is fairly action oriented.
Sure, it's got some contrived clues and too many of them seem to be found in the same way. It's frustrating that you can't decide when to pull your gun out- even if you'd get punished for it or the scene ends and you have to restart it'd be a nice option. It seems like too much time is spent running after people who are just material witnesses. And the same style of interrogation works on just about everyone. But it's a very noble first effort and the mix of action, slight puzzles and storyline is great.
Mass Effect and Dead Rising are two of my favorite series, but anyone who figured a crime noire game played as a crime scene investigator was going to be mostly action has been watching too damn much 24.
They figure because it's a Rockstar game, it would be like GTA4 or Red Dead Redemption, I'm not going to lie I thought it was too, But I still love this game, kind of sucks you can't use your gun unless certain times.
shareDude, you are my hero. I'm 32 and am in lock-step with you. I buy very few games because I don't have the time I used to. Just curious, what are you playing (in general, not just PS3)?
You know the escape.
Yeah I agree, man. I was being sarcastic.

I'm getting really tired of the GTA rebuttle every time something thinks the game is boring. I've played plenty of slow burning point and click games. This game isn't a patch on them, it's just badly executed, repetitive and uninteresting.
sharethe homocide desk definitely got a bit repetitive. Once it got to Vice though, things started picking up and gameplay started getting a bit more varied.
I used to be indecisive. Now, I'm not so sure.
I think this game is loads of fun, more fun than any other Rockstar game that's come out.
What the hell were you expecting?
TRON: Tough as nails, yet smooth as silk.
Perhaps this was already mentioned, but is there a free roaming option after you complete the (assuming) three discs of missions? thanks
shareYes, there is. After you finish a desk, it becomes an option on the main menu, under "Cases." You choose the desk you want (affects partner) and then choose "Free Roam." I have a lot of fun just messing with Bekowsky and Galloway.

Yeah I was hoping for more of a Good Cop Bad Cop kind of game. I wanted the option to rampage or if someone talks back to me or gets smart I could back hand em. There would be repercussions or possible you do like a cash value and if you do everything on straight and narrow you get more money.
shareI like shooters and GTA type games as much as the next guy but as someone who also remembers fondly the old Sierra adventure games and such I've also really enjoyed the investigations so far (just got transferred to Arson). The action parts DURING the investigations are also decent enough but I have to say I got fed up with Street Crimes pretty fast and the only reason I've been doing them is to get more intuition points, outfits and whatnot. Street crimes are basically just the same thing over and over again. Someone commits a random crime and you have to chase him down and there's very little more to it. The investigation part is great atleast for someone who's into adventure games but as far as the action goes this game could've used a bit more meat on the bones, so to speak.
:You're my wife now:
Im playing this game right now and I am enjoying it so far. Im not sure what people are complaining about. The game is smart and engaging, the character models are beautiful and facial animations are spot on. The writing is above and beyond and so is the voice acting. I play COD daily against tard-nuggets so a game that comes along and challenges you to slow down and think is a weleome change of pace. If you buy a game, especially a new IP, without first getting all the information about it first then you are not a smart consumer.
shareI love stupid people here. If you dont like something. You MUST BE 12 YEAR Old. Form my experience its the first to call someone names is really the one who is the most immature. I Love Heavy Rain and much more fun by comparison. And if someone wants to play GTA, so what. You know why that game sold 20 million copies. Because its fun and challenging in its own way. Not that LA Noire isnt interesting. But its repetitive. Not to mention all the pointless stuff in this game. Like looking a None Clues. Having to turn the clue just the right way. OH and the Super Pointless Open World. Plus the story itself pretty much goes nowhere. Yes its Noire and Noire films all have bad endings. I get it. But as a player. I hate doing all that work for nothing. The ending to the Best part of the story Homicide is anti climatic at best. Overall it was o.k.. But not great.
shareI thought this game was waste of money and my time. i love videogames and have been around since the c64 and atari but boy this one was nothing more than a sugarcoated turd, a big stinky one at that.
i really like the film noire genre and consider movies like chinatown as real hollywood highlights, i also like classics such as casablanca etc. so it has nothing to do with aquired "taste" or lack of understanding of the subject matter as purists and true devotees would say.
the harsh reality is that i got suckered into flashy graphics with a nice technological enhancement to it. it was marketed that way and i fell for it. the story is hardly anything great, it is not bad but even heavy rain had better plot twists and those were not great to begin with. cole phelps also is not a character i liked to identify with, he was heavily clicheed and was 1 dimensional. i also hated it how the character was treated throughout the game, it was all a very dissapointing atmosphere since all that you could feel for the characters revolving phelps were either pity, confusion or hatred. i think bekowski was the only one that cheered me up a bit. i just could not relate to the characters(i tried). this is not the main problem with the game, the problem is the extremly repetitive gameplay and the simplicity to it. the sheer lack of imagination and boredom kills this game.
every case file ends the same, investigate the crime scene, conduct interviews, get into a chase or a shootout, find more clues and repeat. the worst thing about it is that there is no different outcome. sure you can book the wrong person but the worst that can happen is that you have to repeat the case. there is also hardly anything to do in this beautiful los angeles from the 40s. collecting cars that you barely drive? stupid suits that just have different textures? the side missions are complete joke, there are no little story archs behind them and they are not challenging at all. just a bunch of stupid chases(AGAIN?) and shootouts.
i felt very detached from everything because the main character didnt even have his own apartment or could investigate on his own terms while not on duty, there was nothing free roaming about it, which is ok if it done well and with alot of content to keep you busy not doing the same thing over and over again. all in all its a tech demo for this facial animation technology and thats that.
if you want to play a new game that is fun and epic at the same time try the witcher 2, i loved every minute of that one. it has obvious flaws too( lots of bugs), a very simplistic but epic plot, GREAT cast of side characters and its such an engrossing experience. infamous 2 is also must buy, simple but fun.
Not to mention half the people you put away are completely innocent.
shareJeeez, your punctuation and capitalization makes it hard to read your posts, pal. Lots of people loved the game. Honestly, I think Grand Theft Auto is a turd of a game, and loved this one. To each their own.
TRON: Tough as nails, yet smooth as silk.
Anyone who was buying this is ought to know it was going to be a game the player needs to have patience for, it is for mature gamers.
