Was he?
The worst president we ever had? I know we're still feeling some of the negative affects of this guys presidency.
shareThe worst president we ever had? I know we're still feeling some of the negative affects of this guys presidency.
shareNo, that would be George W Bush, with all his pointless invasions of Asian countries.
shareReagan was one of the best. Carter was worst, until Obama, who was worst until Dementia Joe. We won't recover from the mess Brandon has created for generations.
share
Ford and Obama placeholder Presidents
Clinton bad
Reagan terrible
Bush II horrible
Trump worst
Biden is actually the best in a long time because he knows how the government works and is not hooked up at tightly with global oligarchs and is not a greedy businessman like Reagan or a traitor to the American people like Reagan, Bush and especially Trump.
You're delusional, one of the best? I can point to a half dozen fucked up things the guy did but how about the "War on Drugs." This fake war is now costing us over $100billion every year. Where the fuck is that money going?
Honestly you're just a lame conservative. I don't know about you, but some of the best years of my life were during Obama's presidency. Guy didn't do me wrong.
He.won the Cold War.
shareYou're the delusional one. Biden is the only one worse than Obama.
share"War on Drugs" started with the 1930s ban of cannabis. Mostly negros going to jail.
shareThey didn't try to win that war on drugs.
Now, if we'd just close the southern border, we'd get rid of a lot of those drugs.
But if you think that decriminalizing drugs would help, allow me to invite you to Portland, Oregon, where the sidewalks are literally littered with the casualties of that policy.
As for where the money is going, there should be an accounting for every penny of taxpayer money spent. On anything.
Well if you already had the answer, why’d you ask. Oh that’s right just another dumbass Democrat lemming.
BTW Obama was an absolute disaster. His signature piece, Obamacare, has cause medical premiums to rise 1000%. He set race relations back half century. And his husband Michael started the whole gender nonsense of 137 genders.
Besides that he was cool.
I'm not a dem; and life was still good during the Obama years. He did alright.
shareHe really didn’t. Granted He inherited a crap economy, and proceeded to turn what should’ve been a 1 year recession into a 6 year recession. With real growth not returning until Trump.
Obamacare has been disastrous. Driving up medical insurance premiums well over 500% by the time he left office.
Race relations were set back half a century under Obama.
Speaking of delusional. We went from racial relations being decent according to most data to going in the toilet thanks to race hustler Obama.
Reagan ended the Cold War and got us out of the disastrous 1970s.
The consequence of going for shock value by nearly all here is there really is no shock. Most of these clowns here have no idea of what most US Presidents accomplished. Reagan was a generationally strong POTUS. He broke the back of the USSR and drove wannabe dictators into a hole such as Libya's Gaddafi. He pulled the US out of an inflationary spiral and reduced interest rates before his second term. He had the respect of most legit world leaders. One of the few strikes against him was deregulating the credit card industry. Biden might now be the worst of all time with his handling of the Chinese balloon. No reason for it to traverse our air space from extremely remote places such as Alaska.
share2 months ago and you can ask that?
shareThere's two ways to ask that question. If you mean just bad at his job then no, he's rank-and-file above the likes of Harding, Buchanan, Pierce, Filmore, either Harrison. Or if you mean by how consequential his actions were, then sure he did a lot of sketch stuff. But he's just been outclassed by W. and Trump.
shareFinally, someone who knows their history, and has a sense of perspective.
Like you say, Reagan was as sketchy as hell (especially with respect to Iran-Contra), but despite his image as a senile old grandpa, he was very effective at rolling out his agenda. Much like Thatcher, you can hate the politics (as I do) but you can't deny the competency/effectiveness (although it's also true that much of his agenda, including arming the mujahideen in Afghanistan, which admittedly began a year before Reagan took office, but mainly took place under his administration/authorisation, and massive tax cuts/deregulation, only really started to bite some years after he left office).
Yeah, he was really theatrical and knew how to be charismatic with the public. I can see Dennis Quaid settling into a role like that.
shareIs this a *proper* film or a right-wing piece of one-sided propaganda, in view of Quaid's involvement?
And whilst I don't like being preached to by wealthy privileged Hollywood celebs*, I do have to say that Dennis Quaid's apparent lurch to the political right is one of the more dispiriting and mystifying. He seemed like one of the 'normal good guys' (and at the risk of coming across as prejudiced and intolerant, I see nothing 'normal' or 'good' about the modern-day GOP, far less Trump/MAGA).
* Suffice to say, my favourite celebs aren't necessarily the ones who share my (left-wing) politics, but the ones who keep their political views fairly close to their chest, rather than feeling the need to use their status and platform to tell less advantaged people how to vote.
when you say "worst", you think he wouldn't have respected your pronouns?
shareNo president in my lifetime has been as disastrous as Biden.
shareNo. Not by far. In recent history, I found that Obama was really bad on a policy level. He was very cool and charismatic, but his policies were awful. I voted for him in 08. Then I worked in mortgage under the home affordable refinance program. First, the biggest need for new fixed rate mortgages were those who weren't backed bu Fannie or Freddy. He cut them out. Then he overregulated the appraisal market. This put houses even further under water meaning that the Fannie and Freddy loans couldn't be refinanced. So it failed by millions. This is just one example, but the trend followed with his other policies. Cash for clunkers, Obama care, etc.... he's a charismatic guy, but his policies have long term effects that are the precursor to Biden's issues. Even that, though, isn't the worst. It's bad, but we don't have Japanese Prisoner camps, the slaughter of Native Americans, kkk members watching movies at the white house (TDS posters will dissagree) or slavery. Every president has issues and even the great ones f up some times.
shareWe unfortunately have had a LOT of candidates for that "honor" over the past half century.
