Am I the only one who thinks Mark Ruffalo was great?

I thought he nailed his role and was really surprised to see many here complain about his performance not being on the same level as some of the others. I think he did fantastic.

You're not alone. However, I guess I'm speaking as a biased poster since I've always liked Mark Ruffalo.

Beautiful and moving film that NORMAL HEART.Mark and Matt will forever Ned and Felix, I think that these two roles were their destins. All actors in this movie deserve recognition but Mr.Bomer and Mr.Ruffalo are absolutely masterful, which does not shed floods of tears at the sight of this movie?

I agree. I've watched The Normal Heart so many times I've lost count. But it's always just to see Mark and Matt's beautiful portrayal of Ned & Felix.

Probably a meaningless post considering my bias towards Ruffalo but anything he does is worth watching.
One of the more important influences he brings to this role is his history of tragedy and loss.

reply

I cant believe anyone would complain about his performance I thought he was one of the best. You cannot fault a single actor in this movie they were all just fantastic. Every single one of them deserved an oscar.

You're not the only one who thinks so.
In my opinion Ruffalo was very good and the decision to cast him in that role was brilliant. He plays a sometimes off-putting guy, but he's Mark Ruffalo. How off-putting can that be? Bottom line: we keep watching. That's exactly what a tough movie like this needs.

He did a great job. Very well played.

Heads up and hands together for Ruffalo's performance. Excellent work, powerful, credible, emotionally moving and intellectually compelling. I thought he captured both Kramer's irascibility and unexpected tenderness. Fine work!

Loved him. He was the best thing about the movie for me but everyone did a fantastic job.

Agreed. You know, I passed it by several times on the Sam's Club rack, thinking, "Oh, it's so expensive and I'm on a fixed income." Then I remembered how important Larry Kramer was to my youth, and what an impact he had on the gay rights movement, and I realized that I had to have it, good or bad.

What a lovely surprise to discover it was so good on every level!

I also think Mark was wonderful...That was a demanding, difficult role and Mark let us see the vulnerability beneath Ned's bluster...Matt complimented him perfectly with his quiet sweetness & inner strength...
