I haven't watched the movie yet but do you think it would've been better if Natalie Portman was the main character? I heard she turned down the lead role.

I actually thought Blake Lively was great in this. Natalie is also a very talented actress but if I were to recast it I would have preferred someone like Keira Knightley (to Natalie Portman). She is a more established actress then Blake (2 academy award noms)but could also have brought the same silent...almost stoic civility to the role that I really liked.

Sorry to say but there was no one better then Blake Lively, Blake Lively was fantastic, her acting the way she talked the way she did everything was just fantastic, i also like the movies Natalie played in but sorry to say Blake Lively was perfect for this movie.

Blake her chemistry with Ellen was phenomenal to me that was important. Love Natalie but don't think she could of convincingly pulled of the mother/daughter like Blake/Ellen did.

I love Pink & Green.......

Natalie Portman is probably my favourite actress but I think Blake was the perfect choice. I think she had a face that works better with every decade. She looked like she belonged no matter when it was suppose to take place. I'm not sure if Portman has that look.

I agree, Portman is a great actress (far better than Blake) and she would make this predictable movie a lot more interesting. Blake although beautiful, had a flat acting, and should have been much more expressive.

Before watching the movie if you have asked me who is a better actress I would have take it as a joke but Blake Lively was magnificent in this movie. I was quite surprised tbh. She came a long way since GG

Portman is good and all but Blake should have been the first choice anyway.

She has this ageless look and made the character believable and sympathetic.

Come to think of it you need a whole bottle of luck in this business. Good thing Portman refused it.

eh I think Blake did a really great job. It's definitely the best role I've seen her play.
