Where should we migrate to?

Those of us serious about this film and, heck, The Dark Tower in general, ought to have another forum/message board to hang out at when this place is finally shut down.

Here, just make a The Dark Tower topic, and we all can talk about the movie here. Just found this, and I'm sharing this all over imdb now

i've registered, the only problem imo is that without a dark tower folder/sub folder, threads could get out of hand. A "Stephen King Adaptations" folder would be sufficient...? I don't know where to ask admin if this could happen though.

This is horribly depressing. The message boards had a few trolls yeah, but the level of it was nothing like Twitter, or YouTube, or Reddit, or god help you 4chan. I could post any question I had, and 99% of the time I'd get an answer. Just the other day, I posed a question on a post from like 2010, not expecting an actual response, and I got one in less than 24 hours. I believe it was for When the Wind Blows, asking if it said what year the movie took place in.

This site has made me laugh, it has made me angry, it has been a trip. I was looking forward to all the rage and love for this movie in particular, and because IMDB's owners are too lazy to moderate trolls (we did fine for years without moderating), we're all getting shut down. As far as where to migrate to...I guess Reddit. It's going to be more troll infested than IMDB ever was. Your posts will get hidden and deleted if you don't have an opinion more than like five people disagree with.

Honest question though about this: What reason even is there for IMDB to exist without the message boards?

This is so lame. Goddamn it.

I thought I could paint it red, but I couldn't find enough goats.

You can join us during the exodus to a new board .

Migrating to another place is inevitable, but it's not going to be the same. It's not just The Dark Tower discussion I'm losing here. I like some obscure stuff, and here was the only place I knew of where I could get talking on it.

Thankee Sai.

I don't always contribute, but I've been keeping up with this board on a daily basis. It's been fun and hopefully we can all agree on a new place to settle into. I hope for a friendly to use forum layout, far away from social media.

I always thoroughly enjoyed clicking the "ignore button" on the trolls, racists and overly negative people (we all know them). For the rest of you, I've enjoyed your discussions, ideas, theories, feedback and outlook.

IMDB has clicked the master "ignore button".

I'm in as well email me when you get a destination.

But as someone said we have a fairly large (Think 18k) Facebook group that discusses all things tower. I happen to be a mod of it.
Only problem is we try to limit movie discussion. Since such a large group get a way out of hand with repeat posts.

This may or may not amount to nothing...just a drop in the bucket suggestion; but I discovered and became a member of Goodreads https://www.goodreads.com/ a few years back. And although I rarely visit, I know it to be a cozy place that is full of amateur writers (like myself) and literary intellectuals that like to critique and psychoanalyze everything.
They have plenty of message boards dedicated to just about any Author/Novel you fancy; but also set-aside areas where film adaptations are discussed.
The upcoming The Dark Tower film is one of them.

There are no Trolls (so far as I know) on this board. Even the ones who express doubt/apprehension/frustration of this upcoming film don't come-off as outright bigots.

Stephen King has several The Dark Tower boards here (amongst everything else he's written). And although I am a member of them all, I mostly visit this one in particular, but so far, only as a reader/lurker, not yet a participant.

But as I said...it's just a drop in the bucket suggestion.

Yeah, I'm still here(an unfortunate fiscal shortcoming led to being without internet access for a week or two). And, what do I come back to? A day after getting it back IMDb announces they are closing the boards. Grrrrr.

Anyway, I don't have FB or Twitter accounts or anything like that(and I'm not about to get them just to join if that's where this ends up) but, other than that, I think any forum that allows moderators would be a step-up from the system here.

I completely forgot I had created a subreddit for talking about movies. I guess now would be a good time to share it to all of you. I don't know a hell of a lot about how to make a subreddit all pretty and everything though. You're all more than welcome to come be a part of it. The only thing I have any intention of deleting is spam.
