Clearly top of the "Worst Ever SciFi Movie" list for the decades to come

After clumsily recycling every cliché from the first movie, Resurgence manages to depict the humans as an brainless, clueless mass of imbecilic and arrogant creatures making you wish the aliens would succeed in wiping out this moronic, embarrassing semi-intelligent caricature of the human race. Resurgence is such an insult to logic, science and basic knowledge that I truly believe the whole movie crew, director, actors, producers, etc should apologize to the SciFi community and really consider stay away from making SciFi movies ever again. There isn't one single minute during this horrific mockery of a movie when sheer ignorance and stupidity isn't present at mesmerizing and unprecedented magnitude. Viewing the movie I saw the reason why Will Smith elegantly rejected the role and thus avoid a clear path towards a nomination for a Golden Raspberry Award.

You haven't seen any of the movies from The Asylum, have you? IDR is a masterpiece compared to those.

reply

Terminator Genisys was so much worse than this. And Prometheus.

Get on the scale son! Get off the scale.

reply

I think you'll find enough people disagree with you to make a third film inevitable. Oh, and Will Smith passed because they wouldn't pay him 40 million dollars. Good riddance - the oldest fighter pilot in the air force.

reply

Are those DCEU movies considered Sci-Fi? If so, BvS and Suicide Squad are even worse than this terd.

reply

you totally missed the point. entirely. inexcusably. you obviously are oblivious to the human nature. i'll say no more.

Will Smith was completely unnecessary in this part and would have been way too expensive. too little bang for the buck. Vivica Fox as the hospital director? you forgot to mention how an exotic dancer makes that kind of career.

overall, this is a worthy sequel to the first part, with the exception of another Hemsworth on the screen (too many Hemsworths or Eisenbergs in big box office movies this year). Doctor Okun was phenomenal, right the character. and so was President Whitmore.

just like the first part, it's a movie to watch while having a pizza. and you were for some reason expecting Stanley Kubrick masterpiece? set your expectations right, boy, before you start shooting from the hip.

That someone could actually like this movie is enough evidence that humanity's inteligence is diminishing with the passing of time.

Just reading the TAGLING for this movie will clear things up for you: "They messed with the wrong planet".

Can we take a tagline like that as serious?

Ah, but let's not forget the ENDING line: "Let's kick some alien's ASS".

Surely, this movie makes me feel like the world of Idiocracy (2006) is finally turning out to be real.

How remarkable that a movie displaying itself like a SCIFI COMEDY ends up being more serious than a SCIFI movie that pretends to be serious.

'Worthy successor' is a key term here. People have glamorized the first movie, it was not a good film. It was fun. This was was slightly worse and slightly less fun. Not something worth getting angry over.

reply

I agree. This movie was shockingly bad and the script was laughable.

There might be few other worse sci-fi movies, but when you consider the budget of this film and the fact that the original director is back, this movie is a disgrace.

reply

Totally agree, i was in shock watching this movie. This has to be one of the worst if not THE worst sci-fi movie ive ever seen. It has total abscent of any imagination. It tried to borrow stuff from the original but it failed completely. The effects are boring as hell, the first one created a new standard in effects so people felt they were beeing invaded.
Will Smith was funny as hell and it was interesting story.

This one? I just dont see the point, and i see they have plans for a 3rd. If that happens, something is really screwed with hollywood.

reply

Agree this was startlingly bad. Some bad SciFi movies I can kind of go along with even if overall they're not super consistent, but this was a slap-in-the-face insult to my intelligence in Every. Single. Scene. I mean, the plot holes had plot holes!!!! I can suspend disbelief, but I can't remove my entire brain! The CGI was some of the worst I've seen too.

The good aliens had superior technology that the evil aliens are afraid of, and yet, the good aliens couln't defeat the evil aliens???? And that's just for a start.

I can deal with bad, this was stupid.

reply

It was entertaining. It's no masterpiece but I enjoyed it.
