As entertaining as the movie was at times and gave many of us anxiety watching it, there’s just too many things they did that just make them absolutely dumb.
- not telling anyone they are climbing the tower
- not packing their own flares or radios if they ran into trouble
- mentioned before but adding again the idea to get the bag and attach the phone to the drone and fly it down gently.
I found this to be a very entertaining movie as well. I can't say I am much of an adrenalin junkie...like at all. But I definitely believe in total preparedness, even in the most simple situation. One thing I bought that I would NEVER travel without is my Sat Phone. Yes, it was expensive but I don't give a baker's fuck. If I was said adrenaline junkie, that is something I wouldn't leave behind.

Yes the flare gun turned out to be useless. But it just exemplifies how reckless they were. For “experienced” climbers they acted like a bunch of amateurs.
- They didn't bring enough water. Climbing 2,000 ft in the desert requires plenty.
- Not bringing food nor snacks. I'd want the extra energy during the climb and maybe lunch before heading down.
- Rusted step collapsed and fell. That would've been enough for me to abort.
- It would've made good sense to have a third person with them on the ground.
- Skydiving lessons would have come in handy since they like to climb high things.
