Ryan Gosling Criticizes Margot Robbie, Greta Gerwig Oscars Snubs

That statement was very carefully crafted. He never said the Academy was wrong, he never even said they should have been nominated. He only expressed his disappointment. So this is not really a criticism just an expression of his own feelings.
Misleading headline as usual.
If they or their publicists were smart, they would issue a statement congratulating the five directors and actresses from the respective categories. This story has really been snowballing and it’s going to destroy their reputation, whether the perceptions are accurate or not. No one likes a crybaby.
No way in hell would Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty), Oscar winner for The Hurt Locker, have ever been caught crying about a snub if one of her movies wasn’t recognized so highly. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow like Nolan and producer wife, Emma Thomas, probably finally getting the gold this year anyhow after a dozen triumphs in cinema over the last 20 years. Even behind the camera, their names are marketable.
Perhaps Gerwig should have made a film that left the studio set behind and put her out of her comfort zone. Barbie looks like far too much fun to have been a challenging undertaking.
Note that Ryan Gosling is angry that Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig didn't get nominations but not angry enough to refuse his own nomination in protest and solidarity.
shareHe and they act as if the two of them were automatically entitled to nominations. Others got nominated instead. It isn't youth soccer--everybody doesn't get a trophy just for showing up.
shareIt was snubbed by the Razzies as well.
