I like Ryan Gosling and Margo Robbie and I did have and play with Barbies but it's probably the least of any nostalgia for me. I'm indifferent..
All politics aside, seeing it hasn't interested me in the slightest from the get go.. When it's streaming I'll still be bored at the notion of watching it.

I think reddit is a cesspool of idiocy and intolerance in the guise of preachy tolerance and gotcha memes and catchphrases. I used to be one before I quit and I'm so happy now. I'm much more balanced and tolerant of people having diff views.
I'm a liberal Democrat but now I understand Republicans and others much better and see there are so many things we have in common, albeit some things I don't agree whatsoever and our paths to achieve some goals are different.
Still, I'm not dismissing their views and cringe at terms like woke and librul and other idiocy.
Barbie like movies succeed because people are mostly left or right of center and there's a small vocal minority on reddit and fox news and others who are super extreme and scream and shout loudly and imply everyone echoes their views and sentiments and then ask questions like "what the hell is the appeal of this for adults???..... Can't believe people are excited to see this....." as you go and watch something else with super excitement that no one gives a shit about.
I'm neither Republican or Democrat.
Still I'm surprised a Barbie movie has been hyped more over something like MI.....I'm guessing these are the types of films (besides superhero films ) that millennials to gen z are willing to go to see at the theater..I've watched clips of this film and I do t think it's very funny or witty at all......

In my perfect world. If you have to make a barbie toy movie for adults, let john waters direct it and have say on final cut.
IMHO
A. Hype.
B. Nostalgia of many grown women. Many millions had (have) Barbie Dolls. And yes I didn't say people on purpose. Females were the target market and buyers when talking about nostalgia. Maybe a few 'fellas' did, but not enough to make a dent.
C. A lot of people (esp women) like Ryan.
D. A lot of people (esp men) like Margot.
E. Pretty colors draws everyone in, especially children. Looks like a cartoon come to life. Kind of is what it is actually.
F. Couldn't we say the same about Batmen, Superman, heck most carton-derived movies. Just to be able to say "carton derived" should be enough.
Same thoughts, haha.
