A bunch of white dudes dressed as Nazis terrorizing a galaxy that happens to be primarily made up of every person of color, gender and sexual orientation under the sun, and oh yea, ONE weak, pathetic, white man who serves no purpose whatsoever except to make his female companion look like Brock Lesnar in comparison. I lost all respect for Zack Snyder, and I had such high hopes for a compelling and original narrative but all he can muster is this boring, racist, sexist, lets crucify the white man, propaganda shitshow, what a colossal disappointment.
Why would you have any faith in something directed by Snyder? I mean, honestly…how does this man still have a career at all? He hasn’t made a single compelling film in almost twenty years. He would’ve been fine directing music videos or IPod commercials, but that’s it.
Oh spare me. Neo-Nazis are found all over the world. The number of Nazis in the U.S. is tiny. It's a despised, radical fringe, like the KKK. The U.S. is famous for lots of things. Hollywood. Cowboys. Rock and Roll. Jazz. Industrial production. A strong military. Gun ownership. McDonald's. New York. Putting a man on the moon.
If I could list the things the U.S. was famous for all over the world "Nazis" wouldn't even crack the top 100.
And this is particularly rich coming from someone whose profile name is "TheArgentinian," because Argentina is famous for Nazis. Peronist Argentina probably sheltered more wanted Nazi war-criminals than any other country in the world. Erich Priebke, Joseph Mengele, Eduard Roschmann, Josef Schwammberger, Walter Kutschmann, Adolf Eichmann, and many, many more. Well over 300. All made welcome in Argentina.
But yes, you're right, our 1st amendment does protect the right of people to publicly espouse Nazism if they want. We do that because we realized there is no way you can limit speech without empowering someone in government to dictate what someone is and isn't allowed to say. We don't want anyone to have that power, because it will inevitably be used to silence critics of the government. So we put up with what a few crackpots and nutjobs say. It's far better than the alternative.
I wouldn't listen to this guy, after scraping through his post history it definitely seems like this guy sees Trump under his bed every night, or this is some extremely deep elaborate troll. My money is on the former though.
Yeah, it's not long. Either it's just as I said: you are an idiot with a toddler's attention span, or you are just another anti-American, idiot leftard, who refuses to engage with any idea that doesn't fit in with his bigoted, preconceived worldview.
Their feelings trump sensibility, practicality and reason, save your energy for constructive debates worthy of your time and well thought out critiques/criticisms/praise.
Yeah, they do have "hate speech" laws. And look at what is happening in those countries. In the U.K. a woman was arrested for praying silently outside of an abortion clinic. A man was arrested for a video where he got his dog to raise a paw in mockery of a Nazi salute -- and the whole thing was clearly a joke. Even left wing comedians criticized the British government for such stupidity. Increasingly, the British police won't do their proper jobs, like stopping protesters from defacing public monuments, or blocking traffic on major thoroughfares during rush hour, or busting up child sex-trafficking rings, but express the "wrong" opinion in public or on social media, and you'll find yourself hauled before a judge.
Ireland's ruling elite is set to enact alarmingly draconian "hate speech" laws after the public reacted in outrage to overly lax immigration policies that have let dangerous foreigners who stab children remain in the country. This proposed law is a direct action to quell criticism of the government.
No, we don't have those kind of "hate speech" laws. We don't want them. We can see what happens to the right to free speech, and to individual liberties when you have those.
Maybe you should check the crime stats -- the only people terrorising the U.S., seems to be blacks. Despite being a small percentage in the country, they make up majority of the crimes per capita.
Yeah, I noticed that as well. It wasn't my chief gripe with the movie. Primarily, I think it's just an unoriginal film -- basically another remake of The Seven Samurai. The fundamental problem with that concept is that in The Seven Samurai, or The Magnificent Seven (the first American remake, set in the old west instead of Japan), the bad guys were a band of brigands. Recruiting a handful of the best warriors around to oppose a bandit gang isn't too far beyond the realm of plausibility, but in this movie the bad guys are an interstellar empire with a huge industrial war machine and resources of multiple worlds to draw on. Basically, it's like you're a little Polish village in September of 1939, and you go out and hire a handful of expert fighters to stop the oncoming Nazi juggernaut. With small arms and even swords no less.
Yeah, that's not gonna work. That's not how you fight a threat like that.
That fundamental flaw made me unable to suspend disbelief and enjoy the movie.
But I did notice that the bad guys are all Germanic-looking white people. They're all evil and brutal as fuck. The one, single Motherworld soldier who tries to stop them from gang-raping a village girl, is, of course, the only non-white one in the group. The "Black Mountain Rebels" the heroes recruit are multiethnic, the first one who steps up to support Bloodaxe in joining the fight is an androgynous female (presumably LGBTQ+), they're all warpainted like "indigenous peoples."
There are no overt woke anti-Western declarations, but the movie sure is hinting at it rather unsubtly.
Yeah, she's not a woman with classically beautiful features, and don't get me wrong, she's nowhere near the top of my list of most beautiful women in the world. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as they say, and for some reason, I think she looks good. I think the hairstyle she wore in the movie suited her features well too (the bob, not the high-and-tight from the flashback scenes).
In some scenes, she's hot and some scenes she's borderline ugly. She reminds me a female lead from The Witcher-series, Anya Chalotra who is also sometimes hot, sometimes borderline ugly.
It has to be pretty bad when even Kathleen Kennedy turned it down for a Star Wars setting. But then again, it's doing almost the same thing as her crap films, so that might also have been a reason for her turning down the script.
It's a 2 at the most. Unique characters don't make something woke. This is just people looking for something to complain about. Yeah, the bad guys kinda look like nazis. Not a big deal.
