Red Dead Film: Your ideal Marston?
Who is your ideal choice for Martson if a film version was made?
Here are mine (not in any order):
Brad Pitt
Jim Caviezel
Hugh Jackman

Seriously, i've read through all the comments, and almost no one says Karl Urban. What the hell is wrong with your eyes people? No one is better suited for Marston than Karl Urban.
shareKarl Urban or Josh Brolin as John Marston and Daniel Day-Lewis as Dutch Van Der Linde

I agree with all of the answers actually, you all have good opinions as to who would play john marston. they are all great actors and with the right director it would work out no matter which one they choose. however maybe the best person for the role is someone we don't know yet maybe it will be a new face in the acting scene who hasn't been discovered yet. all in all, we won't know until the movie is made...if they are indeed making it, because I honestly have not seen anything about it yet lol.
shareJosh Brolin is the quintessential cowboy? BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....I'm going to fall off the couch.
Can't believe only one person mentioned Anson Mount. Completely perfect for this role.
Eric Bana

Timothy Olyphant ftw!
shareDylan McDermott has a similar look.
shareOr Robert Taylor from Longmire
shareChristian Bale or Mark Walhberg as John
Josh Hutcherson as Jack

Tom Hardy would be interesting, although he's a little too pretty in my opinion.
Rob Wiethoff, the guy who voiced John, wouldn't be a bad candidate. I mean, he has the exact voice and body, and he's actually a very presentable guy. Though it'd be kind of tacky to have the same guy in the movie anyway.
Joe Manganiello
shareA little late for a reply but Anson Mount would be the perfect choice I think. If you have seen the western show Hell on Wheels you'll understand why I think so :)
shareAnson Mount would, but his voice isn't gravelly enough I think. He has the face for it, but maybe he could work.
I think for the movie to work, you'd need actors like this, the less big names attached, the better chance of people watching and taking more notice of the story rather than who is in it. It's why so many other western movies from video games or comics failed, too many big name actors that took away from the story and brought on unrealistic expectations.
Well he could always do what Mercedes McCambridge did; drink raw eggs, a lotta whiskey and chain smoke! ;)
No but there are techniques for getting your voice deeper and more gravily without hurting your voice box.
Brad Pitt.
shareJosh Brolin.
This life is a preparation for heaven, hell....or both.
Would a film be necessary?
