Rare is the comedy movie that kills from start to finish.
Cedar Rapids deserved MUCH wider release. It was worth the drive from the South Bay to Burbank to see. This easily could have come out in summer or the holidays.
I can't believe all these posts panning it. The audience rolled in the aisles. We have a comedy classic on our hands here. Wholly underrated.
Funniest movie that there's not much access to, and that's the bottom line.
I don't know how can not find this movie funny to be honest. John Reilly pretty much stole the show for me. In fact all the characters played their parts well. They didn't all try to be funny but everyone had their moments. Its one of the best comedies I have seen in a while and as you rightly put it, this movie nailed it right from start to finish although it did slow down a bit in the last 10 minutes or so. I think people have lost their sense of humor if they find this movie unfunny.

Best comedy I've seen in a long time, just perfect from start to finish. I love how the actors did an amazing job with these characters, and it felt as if there was an abundance of everything that makes up a good comedy, making it great.
Hope to see more just like this, perfectly balanced.
I liked it, but I don't think I'd be so audacious with the whole "you hate comedy if you dont like this" comment. It was an alright film with lots of problems; I can see how people could find it mediocre or bad, but I personally thought it was a nice thing to watch at 2 in the morning to chuckle at before I passed out.
shareI think a better subject line for this thread would be, "If you hate this film, you don't understand comedy." Anyone who doesn't think it was funny just doesn't appreciate humor that is not in-your-face. Absolutely hilarious movie, and Deanzy stole the show for sure. Much of the comedy, however, was much more subtle. Lippe's innocence and naivete were great as well, but its less obvious comedy. Oh well, i don't want to love a movie that everyone else loves anyway.. takes the fun out of it.

WHY does everyone use the word HATE so often and with no real thought behind it?
It was kind of funny. Not the funniest ever. OFFICE SPACE was hilarioous. This was "okay". But I didn't hate it. I guess the lead actor jujst was too wierd. And the character of Tim was so fictional and not really funny.
So he came from a small town. I don't believe that he could be that naive.ONLY if he was Amish? Or if he was home schooled?LOL.
It was kind of odd......not the best.
