Is Colin Farrell as sexy as Chris Sarandon was in the original?

Man, he was hot back in the day! How is this version in comparison to the original? Thanks :)

I will skin you. I will debone you. I will feed your entrails to our neighbor's Shih Tzu!

Colin Farrell seemed more like Joey from Friends kind of sexy. I would not of been surprised if the character asked the mom "How you doing?". Chris was seductive and charming.

Nah, hard to believe Colin Farrell could play a role and not be sexy enough but Chris Sarandon was just more seductive. I think it was the way the director approached it, they made Colin very beefy and his character kind of gross.. I think in response to Twilight, de-romanticizing the vampire.

Pfft. Colin Farrel is a hundred times sexier and more handsome than Chris Sarandon. Anyone who says the opposite is clearly blind or just hates the remake.

Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)

Pfft, anyone who thinks Colin Farrel is hotter than Chris Sarrandon probably finds trailer trash from Jerry Springer attractive. Different strokes for different folks.

Ok guys, let's not degenerate into personal attacks. How attractive someone is is completely subjective and not likely to be exactly the same for everyone.

In general terms I think that Colin Farrell is more attractive than Chris Sarandon. In this particular role, I liked Sarandon better. Not necessarily because I found him to be sexy, which I didn't, but because I could see how the people in the movie might. And because I could appreciate his character's charm and savvy smoothness. Farrell's Jerry was just a creep with an insatiable thirst and a sadistic streak. Don't get me wrong. Sarandon's Jerry was a bit sadistic too. But he had more self control and at least the apperance of a sense of purpose.

Just my opinion. Cheers to everyone else's!

What the hell, man? Couldn't you just keep it at "different strokes for different folks"? Did you have to throw in an insult (aimed at multiple parties) before that?

As hot & sexy as I think Colin Farrell is, I have to say Chris Sarandon was a way better Jerry Dandridge. He had charm, sensuality, personality and he expressed so much more passion. Colin's Jerry Dandridge was so brutal and even in his human form he was very cold and creepy (not in a brooding, sexy way), and other than his great looks really didn't have anything else going for him...

reply

Nope. I'm a huge fan of colin farrel but he had ZERO sex appeal and charisma as Jerry. He killed this movie for me besides the main character.

reply

They are too different to make a fair comparison, I think... Farrell's Jerry was a bit of a pig, to be frank, whereas Sarandon's Jerry was a gentleman... of sorts.

Not sure who is sexier. it's difficult to judge seeing as only Farrell has posted/uploaded his love organ all over the internet. Sarandon hasn't done that and is too old (hopefully) to start now.

reply

What are you talking about? Farrell's EX caused the PRIVATE sex tape to be released. He fought it tooth and nail. Really irrelevant comment.

Obviously I've been living under a rock (or it's just that I don't normally care about the personal life of actors), but...

Aww, I had no clue about this. That's awful. Must be illegal too, releasing stuff like that without the other party's consent. No? I take it there was a lawsuit, at the very least?

It was big news at the time, but I think it was in 2005 or something. LONG ago, so I really think it was a low blow to bring it up in the first place, and then misrepresent the facts.

If I remember correctly, CF and the girlfriend eventually reached an agreement that she wouldn't distribute the tape to anyone else. "Anyone else", because by then she had already made it available to some internet company. I don't know what happened with his lawsuit (which there indeed was) against them, but the tape DID surface on the net.

Funny note: CF was asked in an interview whether he had learned his lesson from this experience. He said yes, he now knows to take the tape!

That was some time ago indeed.

Thanks for the information, Lisa! :D

Oh god no Chris was way Sexier i think Colin was completly miscast, but my favourite part of the film was when Chris Sarandon popped up i so wanted him to kick Colins ass :)

reply

Sexier. I've never found Chris Sarandan particularly attractive so Colin is way hotter than he was. I liked this version much better than the original except that Anton Yelchin seems too effeminate in his appearance and all of his roles to play a guy who gets one of the prettiest girls in his school.

There's way more to sexiness than physical beauty.

Even though I think Colin is a good actor and very attractuve, I felt that Chris did a much better job but that probably had a lot to do with the writing and direction of the original. In the original, Amy was just mesmerized by his presence and he (Chris) didn't have to do any tricks.

*** Spoiler *** In this version I think Colin had to embed a fingernail in Amy's skin just to get her to listen to him. That was just gross.

IMO, Colin just played kind of weird and sneaky, not sexy or seductive at all. In the original, Chris even charmed his way into the house (via Charlie's mom). In this one, he just blows up the house! Not a smooth move and wouldn't that just draw attention.

BTW, if you want to check out another good Old School vampire movie, check out Lost Boys (1987).

I agree, sydnee man. Sarandon's Jerry was charming (when he wasn't being blatantly evil) and knew when to use that and when to use brute force. Farrell's Jerry only seemed to have one setting and that was creepy killer guy. A little more nuance and distinction between behavior types would have been nice imo.
