What's with all the cursing?
I could put up with all the silliness of the guns and such but the cursing for no reason is really jarring and just yanks you out of the film entirely.

did you bring your 4 and 6 year old kids to this movie by any chance? I hope you read the sign stating that its rated "R"
shareAgreed - I was really surprised by it. I love a good violent flick with a lot of swearing, but it felt forced in this movie to try to appeal to a certain demographic.
I agree. Phrases like "Who the *beep* is Edward?" or Gretel's ultimatum to the sheriff at the beginning of the movie sound entirely out of place in a film that looks like it's supposed to be taking place somewhere between the 17th and 19th century, not to mention the fanboy (even using the word "fan"), the weaponry (did you see some of those bullet casings?), the use of the word "gun" to refer to weaponry (back then, "gun" only referred to cannons), and the "missing children" pictures on the milk bottles.
...I guess it's supposed to be jarring, because they can't decide what period they're in.
They aren't in any Earth period of time, they are in their own reality that has different progression and advancements. Don't assume that just cause there are humans in the movie that it is set in some set in stone Earth period of time.
shareI don't curse and didn't notice it in the movie. Let me tell you what my niece says....
"daddy doesn't watch movies with curse words in them and he curses. You watch movies with curse words and you don't curse."
Agreed. I'm no prude but the amount of unnecessary cursing was ridiculous.
sharein a movie where witches get sliced to smithereens by flying into razor wire, and people are complaining about the swear words.
shareGet the *beep* over it, princess.
shareI found it annoying. It was as if in view of the violence they had the rating to allow lots of curse words to be used, and the writers took permission for a requirement.
