A question about the structure of the team - need clarification please

Ok, in NCIS you have Vance as Director, Gibbs as team leader, and then there is the rest of the team. (With Tony as Senior Field Agent - leading the team in the absence of Gibbs)

In NCIS L.A. - Hetti is Director? or is she just the team leader? - (Vance appears on her screen sometimes as her Senior)

She instructs what seems to be two teams (LL and O'Donnel, and Surfer boy with the hot badazz chick) - Is McCallan the senior field agent? and Hetti is like Gibbs?

Hetti is either Director/Team Leader - (filling the job of both Vance AND Gibbs in D.C. in NCIS type comparison - or she is just a team leader and gets all her missions for her team from Vance.

Just a bit confused, iv'e watched it for quite a while and just haven't thought about it until now.

Thx. (Sorry in advance if this is a lame question)

BTW, I noticed their equipment is way better than D.C. NCIS, but i don't recall seeing a morgue there, i guess they didn't want to throw that aspect in and make it seem like a total copy of NCIS, anyways - any input would be appreciated.

And to add to that Douchebag(Deeks) is so insecure and jealous and totally unprofessional. There is not one law enforcement agency that would allow these two to work together,under the same roof, with the way they act. Deeks with his constant talking,insecurity, sexual innuendos, and his overall appearance. And kensi with all the mushy talk while on the ear buds.. again totally unprofessional. It affects their work. Which in turn hurts the overall team. UNREALISTIC!

It was stated at the beginning of the series that this NCIS "team" "location" was different than others. Hetty is the leader of the entire location. Vance is the Director of NCIS, so her boss. However, Granger is a Deputy-Director NCIS and directly senior to Hetty. Callen is the senior field agent on the team and Callen, Deeks, Hanna and Blye are the field team. Deeks is actually a Los Angeles police officer assigned to NCIS LA and now operates just as one of the other field agents. (that probably is weird) Their equipment is good and probably a result of what they do, which is more field and under cover work. I have always questioned why they handle some cases since they are usually not Navy or Marine connected. Seems like they have gotten away from the premise of the original show, or even the NCIS itself.

Thanks All! - It all makes sense. I do like the show, NCIS is still my Fav, but I've grown attached to This team as well - I think Deeks is fine, lots of Deeks hate here it looks like, lol - him and Kensi have thier own style of partnering, same as Sam and Callum have their style. Hetti just plain rocks. Love the episodes where they show Vance, or work alongside Gibbs' team.

I've noticed a lot of Europeans like Deeks. It's almost as if they think that the "surfer dude" somehow personifies their view of Americans--kind of like the "ugly American" only someone who's basically juvenile and the least competent of all the characters. Hmmm, they think folks who think Deeks behaves like a moron are "haters," but they have an almost unnatural affection for his character based on their weird perception of Americans--they easily disregard all his comments and actions that are very unprofessional and put it down to "being American," I guess.

Deeks is an LAPD cop who works as their official Liaison officer with the LAPD (though he is not an official NCIS employee)...similar to how Ziva was originally the Mossad Liaison officer on the mother show NCIS.

I know he's supposed to be LAPD (which is funny in and of itself). It's just I've noticed a lot of foreign fans REALLY like him. He's the least professional and threatening of all the agents; of course, if bad jokes could kill, they'd all be dead. :-)

If NCIS: Los Angeles characters could be compared with those from NCIS, it would be as follows….

Deeks is like Tony. Kensi is like Ziva. Hetty is like Ducky. Eric is like Jimmy. Nell is like Abby. Granger is like Vance.
