I laughed from start to finish. Am I a moron?

My top five movies:

1) Brazil
2) The Godfather
3) Dr. Strangelove
4) The Big Lebowski
5) Glengarry Glen Ross

I consider myself a serious film buff and like to think my standards are high; I watch lots of art films, indie films, old classics, and do not think Citizen Kane is overrated etc. I'm no historian, but I'm a cinema addict through and through.p

One joy I find from movies is the endless variety of feelings they induce; meloncholy, exhilaration, dread, inspiration, anger, empathy... the medium is capable of so much and I appreciate any film that succeeds at making me feel what it means to.

One of the feelings I savor in films is mindless laughter. I cherish movies like Dumb and Dumber, Super Troopers, and Billy Madison. However, I'm also a snob in this genre; I hate Freddy Got Fingered, Sorority Boys, any recent Sandler movie etc. For me, the ones that work, work because they're so proudly absurd that I laugh at the fact that I'm expected to laugh in the first place. The ones that don't seem to assume the worst about their audience, and come off as lazy/insulting.

Maybe it was because I had about six beers before I saw it, but I found Movie 43 hilarious; a terrible film in so many ways it barely qualifies as a film. Yet my gut reaction was uncontrollable laughter. I can't entirely blame the booze, since alcohol couldn't save the Hangover series and other movies I found
insufferable.

This might be the most anyone has written in the defense of Movie 43, but I'm not so much defending the quality as I am challenging the hostility I've noticed towards people who found it funny. Movie 43 is a turd, and any repeated viewings on my part will likely be on account of YouTube clips. But I laughed at at least 60% of the skits I remember. My question is... is humor really so subjective that a serious film lover like myself could actually find it funny, or does my gut reaction automatically make me a moron?

I liked this movie too and never understood why it got so much flack. Some of the shorts were better than others, but I thought most of them were funny, and they had many great, highly-regarded actors in them which seemed to be part of the joke. "Homeschooled" was one of the funniest things I've seen in years.

I didn't think it could get any worse until the end. Bezeel the Cat was just completely and hilariously *beep* up.

No, you are not! I did as well and i'm def not a moron. Humor is subjective.

I heard about this movie in a top ten on youtube about actors who hated their roles. Most of the A-listers in the movie were contractualy obligated to be there and that's why they did a terrible job in my oppinion.

I found the story fascinatingly surreal, the sheer absurdity was refreshing. I haven't laughed so hard watching a movie in a long time, probably since about 2007 when the industry went into the toilet with all the superhero movies, remakes and useless trilogies and pulled by the hair sagas.

Honestly, done with actors that actually wanna be there doing their job credibly this would have made a great movie, a nice comentary on the world today.
Where is all this I-madness leading to? Why are men still uneducated about the most simple issues? What would happen if homeschooling was just like real schooling? How many online dates does it take to drive you insane?(I can relate to that last one, online dating is *beep* crazy, you have the feeling of meeting the same person over and over again but with a different face).

All in all I found this movie pretty damn good as well, I wasn't even drunk, so no you're not a moron. I guess all you need is an open mind! Which is what this movie is all about . The fact that it's not apreciated is the very point!!!

No, its just alot of people cant see humor or cant handle it as its too strong for their week minds.

hm. well, for ONE you based your name on two inane, highly repetitious characters... AND you apparently liked this film. based on that information alone, i have to answer your question in the affirmative; though i'm sure in reality you're a bright, well-adjusted person.

in ANY case, i wouldn't worry about it. lots and lots of people like the Transformer movies, too.

(and besides, looking at my past ratings, i liked Baseketball a whole lot at one point in my life. or so it would seem.)
