What was the deal the way Pesci looked at DeNiro's daughter in the movie

and was always trying to bribe her with presents and candy? Does anyone have an opinion as to what the point of that was, and where did it come from in this so-called true story.

It was an attempt to show that the mafia has very good "values" and is concerned about family.

He didn't like hearing that the main character got a divorce. He noticed that the daughter didn't seem to love anyone and didn't respond well to her dad, him, etc. He blamed the divorce but really it was because the girl was smart and sensed they were creepy and dangerous.

Pesci of course doesn't know he is creepy and can't figure the daughter out.

She liked Hoffa because he was a normal person and not a psychopath. He just acted like a regular guy of that time period and she liked it.

I don’t think he was a Pedophile.

Russ was a sociopathic gangster who just couldn’t connect with people. He was used to winning people over through bribes.

But with Sheeran’s daughter he couldn’t do that. Unlike the gangsters he surrounded himself with, she was innocent. She only expressed love and affection to genuinely good people.

And that was Russ’s tragedy. He would never know genuine love.

That's a good point. A pretty nuance idea though for a Scorsese movie though.
