Does any respected historian believe the mob killed JFK?

It’s fascinating to think that and would make perfect sense but doesn’t seem like there’s any evidence to support it

Facts are stubborn things, And when the facts scientific and otherwise are examined objectively. The answer is no. However, conspiracy theorists don't care about facts.

Unlike the book, the film actually stayed away from this conspiracy theory, just had one character imply it. Apparently Zaillian's script included wild claims of this from Frank Sheeran's biography, but Scorsese chose to exclude them.

"The decision had to be made, very clear, before I read the book,” Scorsese said, first reported by Esquire. “Are we going to get into what could be considered conspiracy theories?”

reply

Pesci said explicitly “if they can whack a president” seems a little more than an implication

reply

I interpreted that more like -- if a president can be killed, so can anybody else. Wouldn't he say "we" instead of "they" if he was referring to the mob?

reply

But directly before that sentence they were talking about the “higher ups.” ”They” was obviously referring to them.

I would be willing to bet that there are some, simply because we don't know for sure.

Respected historians live shielded from the working of power, political, corporate and criminal. But to their credit they reach conclusions based on the facts available to them, including the dubious Warren Commission report. Nixon did not contest JFK's victory even though he had evidence of the Chicago voter frauds. He chose not to contest "for the good of the Republic." That sentiment was current at that time and the Warren Commission would not necessarily have shied away from the same "for the Republic" sentiment in shielding the public from the scary facts.

As for historians, only recently have new and plentiful official documents come to light. As historian scrutinize them tghey will have some interesting things to say. here's a link to a brief article about these new documents: https://www.history.co.uk/article/did-the-mob-kill-jfk-new-evidence-suggests-they-did

It's a bit more complicated that that.

I would think, and this is wild speculation obviously, that if the mob thought it was strong enough to knock-off the President of the United States, that they were strong enough in the 60's to do whatever they wanted to. If they thought there was any chance they night be caught within a reasonable window. I doubt they would try it, because to fail would have been all out war on the mob.

Since we as citizens can never know for sure because everything was so sealed up and classified, I think with all the bigtime surveillance methods we have today, instead of surveilling normal folks turn it on organized crime and root it out totally. I wonder why that is not happening, or no one has made a big deal about it.

They will make a big deal about Leftist groups burning up a building or protesting in the street, but the takeover of our government by organized crime or corporate behemoths that are a bigger and more real threat nothing is said about. Kind of makes me think it's true.

I don't think the mob killed him, but I don't think Oswald acted alone either. Too many links with Cuba and Russia.
