One of the worst actors ever?

I think this guy is so overrated, especially in movies like Fast & Furious... xXx are mediocore too... What you guys think?

reply

The guy knows his limitations that's why fast n furious riddick and xxx are the only franchises he's got going for him

reply

Note he has three franchises. Actors rarely even get one. Before you throw at me names like Mel Gibson (Mad Max & Lethal Weapon) or Bruce Willis (The Expendables, Sin City, Die Hard & The Whole 9 & 10 Yards), I will remind you that those are only three (counting Vin Diesel) of millions of actors in the US who happened to have gotten lucky. Vin Diesel wrote and directed his first two starring roles, one of which got noticed by Steven Spielberg, who thought he was good enough to be written into Saving Private Ryan in a role that wasn't in the original screenplay. Sure, he is killed a little over halfway through (and is the first to die), but SPR is a pretty long movie. Diesel just stuck with what he liked when he got the career power to do so.

reply

Riddick is pretty solid. He was good in Boiler Room as a support

reply

I agree.... with Steven Spielberg.

reply

His voice is *beep* terrible. I hate it.

reply

What're you talking about?! He was AMAZING as Groot..;p

reply

This is sarcasm, right?
Anyone can play Groot.

reply

He's acting range is limited, but like most action stars of the 80's and 90's he fits the genre he's best known for and doesn't set out for anything too out of his comfort zone. Sometimes he goes out of the box and he's done well enough to inspired Spielberg and Brad Bird to cast him. And hey, anyone who can add so much variation to three words("I Am Groot...") and win audiences all over must be doing something right.

I think he gave a good performance in A Man Apart.

reply

HAHAHA. He was PAINFULLY bad in that. We must have saw different movies. If he was so good in it how come no other studio would give him another part where it actually showed any sort of emotional range besides his usual grunting and emotionless delivery?

reply

He can act, just watch Find Me Guilty.

Obviously he's completely typecast himself now though.
