shareThey alreaady spent $400 mil just on the trademark . they gotta all in to recoup the money
shareReviews don't matter for horror movies. It'll all depend on the final numbers.
shareThe Halloween trilogy all made >$100 million though they made progressivley less each time with Ends in particular having a catastrophic implosion, all time bad levels of drop off in it's second weekend.
They'll shart the sequels out to diminishing returns. With the money they've spent on the rights they have to try make a profit even if it means cutting the budgets for parts 2 and 3 to try maximize the profit margin.
To be fair, didn't Ends premiere on Peacock the same weekend it was released in theaters?
shareI wanted to watch it on Peacock for free, but the Wife convinced me we had to make it our monthly movie night. We agreed the opening title sequence, with the pumpkins being skinned to reveal more pumpkins, was the best bit of the film.
I only remember a little about it at this point but what I do clearly remember is thinking it wasn't great. I thought the 2018 film was fairly good but Kills and Ends were both weird and disappointing.
shareI think that if they really did spend $400 million on the rights, they've got to make them to get as much of that back as they possibly can.
shareTHE TRILOGY IS GURANTEED...IN WRITING...IT WAS PART OF THE RIGHTS PURCHASE.
shareI think the $400M right deal is a ploy. Or a straight out lie.
This as the projected total revenue per film would be $140M
The Exorcist: Believer might not even make $100M WW at a budget of $25M
Only way this makes sense @$400M if the studio rebooted this every 5 years for 50 years.
Ikr, I don't see WTF the exorcist rights could cost so much, few years back the terminator rights were up for grabs and I'm sure it wasn't anything as ridiculous as that. I mean there no way any one would pay that much when at best a new Exorcist trilogy could only do about 500m box office (lets face it an Exorcist sequel is never going to do the crazy 1b box office the first film made when adjusted) I think its just total BS from the blumhouse studio or whatever it is made it, or if they did pay that (based on the first movie box office/iconic status) then its a dumb move
