The ending completely ruined the movie for me

Seriously. It should of just ended when the girl and the cop were sitting on the road, and the police come to get them. I just hated how that guy said "never trust a con" at the end, and then then he gets killed. I was hoping for all 3 of them to live

oh well

Last movies seen:
The Stepfather 8/10
Paranormal Activity 7/10
Couples Retreat 9/10

I could not agree more with both of you. That was totally stupid.

They needed a way to show the new inbred.

It's become a horror movie cliche, "everybody dies", which tries to pass as a "surprising twist" finale, even though everyone expects it.

reply

Except Alex didn't die. It was a stupid, tacked-on ending...period.

I actually pretty much liked the ending. It was the only thing that saved the movie for me. The supuer-goody-friendly cop and the prisoner with a heart of gold were sickening to watch. I hate it when protagonists are so 'good' that it itself borders on supernatural. I kept thinking 'please let that be an act on his part' and lo and behold, it was. Plus, it was a good way to paw the way for the next installment in the series.

With that said, I don't think I'll watch the next one as I won't be giving this one anything higher than 4/10.

"I want a frisbee made of Mexico."

reply

I thought it was ridiculous as well. At most they should've only had one of the guys go back to the truck and get killed. The odds of them both being there on the same day sometime in the future...brutal.

"Well...I've seen enough. Come on Charlie, we're going home."

reply

I didn't -mind- the movie too much until this ending. Nate went through a wild character change (doing the right thing for sort of dubious reasons, to being an epic good guy who detested money, to being a greedy idiot) and the end was completely out of character for both guys. It made the character development Nate went through, and the character history of Brandon totally meaningless.

I convinced myself that it was a bonus ending rather than the true end of the movie so I wouldn't feel completely ripped off. It wasn't a total shock as I know that the series has a history of killing off everyone, so I was dubious about 3 people surviving. I expected a twist ending where they showed there was a female mutant who was pregnant and had hidden while it all went down or something, but not the BS that we actually got.

I had the choice between watching this film for the first time, or re-watching Freddy vs. Jason for the 10th time. Should have chosen FvJ.

I liked the ending but 1 question, I thought all the money was burned up when Floyd was in flames and burned all the money so wtf was there money still left in the truck??

reply

my thoughts, should have ended on the road.

reply

I agree with you guys. The last minute of the movie was stupid and useless, actually making the whole inferior. What were they thinking? It contradicts the relationships and the characters themselves in the movie. Not to mention it is a lot to ask of us to believe they would all be there at the very same time. Come on!!

reply

When you think about it I agree. They ruined a whole film just for a few cheap shocks and thrills.
I have to admit though that the creature at the end did pay tribute to the ending of the previous 2 movies. It also seems to promise another sequel... if that is even good?
There are bits of the film I like though, I like for once that it is not just the inbreds that are causing all the violence for once, this stopped the movies from becoming a cliché.

reply

I agree. The ending was useless and lame. If they wanted to introduce a remaining inbred for the next movie, all they had to do was show him lurk behind bushes with his ball and chain weapon after the police arrived and taken the cop and the girl away. After all the time the con had saved the cop's life why would he come back and kill him for the money when clearly BOTH of them gave a rats a$$ about the money in the first place. VERY much out of character for both of them.

reply

Yeah, the ending completely ruined it for me too.

Seriously that was so random and stupid, because all the money was burned down earlier.

And I have to add that the actor who played the girl SUCKED. Every time she said her line it felt like she was reading directly off the script.

"My friends and I were rafting on the Bluefish river two days ago" -pause *checking her next line*
"We were having a good time" -pause
*checking her next line*
"We stopped for the night, then it happened"

Omg she was not convincing at all...

5/10 is what I give this movie, I would give it a 7/10 if it wasn't for the *beep* actor Janet Montgomery.

God I hope she quits acting

reply

I agree, the movie was what I expected up to that point, but that was just horrible, I would have been okay with the con trying to go back for the money and getting killed, but that was stupid.

About the money though, the truck was full and they only carried 2 bags each, so I guess like 8 or 10 bags so there could have been many more in there.

It's not like the ending to the second one was much better lol

reply

Agree with most on here...that ending had me yelling "WTF?!?!"...the fade to black after the cop & girl were rescued would've been good enough.

I thought it was a good ending, all the wrong turns have endings like that to show the cannibals are still there. The first wrong turn had the best ending.
But it was a real shock and i was surprised so bring on wrong turn 4.

reply

Did anybody notice that you don't see much of the guy(?) who presumably kills the guy who just killed the cop? It could have been Alex. Just saying.

The ending is quite open, but that was probably to keep the door open for yet another sequel. I cannot regard these movies very highly since I don't consider them art but very simple, cheesy entertainment. I have seen much worse than this one (Hostel 2 *cough*), but it's really not a great movie and part 4 won't be either.

reply

At least they can't come back to life and haunt us with their disgusting acting blunders.

Sin City - 10/10...

PUT US OUT OF OUR MISERY RODRIGUEZ!

reply

WTF are you all talking about?!

The ending was what ruined the film?!

GUYS... THE FILM RUINED THE FILM. If you can even call it that.

It was the biggest POS I've ever seen. Story? None. Character Arcs? You've got to be dreaming. There were none. Scares? None. Suspense? None. Acting? None.

You get the idea... the fact that some of you are even rating this higher than 0/10 has me dumbfounded and makes me question whether I'm in the Truman Show.
