Horrible Title! And Kristen Stewart is a JOKE!

Saw a sneak preview of this in Toronto. It's TERRIBLE, and the entire time my friend and I watched it we kept whispering "who the FUCK is Spencer?" After being shushed by some rude members of the press, we left halfway through.

Kristen Stewart plays the same role Naomi Watts did ten years ago. But unlike Watts, Stewart looks nothing like the doomed princess save a few wide shots. The filmmakers also made the really bad movie Jackie, another uninspired titled that had Natalie Portman reinventing her role from Black Swan.

I feel bad for Generation Z. They just have such bad taste in filmmaking that they think loud is better, and if you aren't in a Marvel movie you don't exist in their iPhone conversations. I come from a generation that had amazing biopics. We're talking What's Love Got to Do with It with Angela Bassett as Tina7 Turner. And Helen Mirren in The Queen. And Robert Downey Jr as Charles Chaplin. These actors really immersed themselves in the roles without relying on CGI camera tricks and 4K camera angles.

Kristen Stewart is not a good actress. She's from the Twilight series, which like the Hunger Games, was made for high schoolers with bad movie IQs.

Spencer is a terrible name for a movie about a woman named DIANA. It's not even referencing her many lovers, or a nickname she had in college. We searched IMDB trying to figure out what it could possibly mean. But found nothing but Twitter posts from people in their early 20s who still think Titanic (1997) is the best movie of all time. Wow. I am so glad I was born in the 80s when there was a ray of light left in the film industry. It's all hogwash now. Everything is spelled out for you. There is no nuance. No subtle gestures. These actors playing other famous people might as well be on display at Universal Studios. It's all gimmicks.

FINAL GRADE: F

(we were so distracted by the manipulative music and bad title, we forgot to pay attention to the story).

Titles to watch instead on similar subjects:

The Queen, Helen Mirren (2006, Oscar winner for best actress)
Diana, Naomi Watts (2013, no nominations)
The Favourite, Olivia Colman (2018, Oscar winner for best actress; has nothing to do with Princess Diana but at least it's a high end film about a Queen and sadly was forgotten by the Generation Z groupies that can't sit still for more than 15 minutes unless the film has a super hero in it).

There is no such thing as an “amazing biopic.” Biopics are inherently boring. Remember “Ghandi”? It won Best Picture, and no one remembers or watches it. Why? BECAUSE IT IS BORING.

Tell me there isn't at least one amazing one

Ever seen the film 20 Cigarettes? It's an autobiographical Italian film.

Watch that and try coming back here and saying it's inherently boring (especially if you reach the middle-end part, which can get REALLY tough to sit through).

The title is fine as was Kristen's acting.

LMAO. Yeah, there was no way you could have possibly found out whatever the title "Spencer" could be referring to. Definitely a spectacular argument for hating a movie, because it would have been impossible to find the answer to that question.

And clearly being "too distracted" by it as a reason you "forgot to pay attention to the story" makes your film critique something to be taken really, really seriously.

You don't know Spencer was her maiden name?

I saw all those "Oscar worthy!" comments and I tried to watch it. But it was disgusting and I could not. They can't even get the hair or clothes right, and they invent scenes that are boring. What is the purpose? Just because she could mimic Diana's voice this makes her Oscar worthy? No. Absolutely unwatchable for anyone who actually lived through the years Diana was on earth.

I saw it last night after a week of Royal Insanity, and was not disappointed. It was hilariously awful! Stewart was laughably bad!

Incredibly awkward body language, monotone voice, blank face, dead eyes - girl cannot act at all! Okay, maybe she can play dead-eyed modern girls, but she has absolutely no skill as an actor, and the movie is just hilariously awful.
