I bet the libbies hate this movie.

People aren't evil! We can't punish them! We must rehabilitate them!
It's always the parent's fault!
CPS CPS CPS!!!

When you guys get tired of the Rousseau notion and accept man is flawed from day one, you'll realize that there are no solutions, there are only trade offs.

This is human nature guys. Get used to it.
The more you try and hide from it the more it will walk all over you.

What is this person talking about??
Libby?
CPS CPS??
Someone called Rousseau?
And who are they talking to when they say "you guys"? The filmmakers? The movies characters?
Makes no sense. I feel like this post is the middle of a conversation.
I guess only the original poster knows for sure...

It is very easy to knock down strawmen.

To some people, I would probably be considered liberal. No one that I know, liberal or conservative, believes that all people are completely good or that evil doesn't exist. You would have to ignore a good portion of history to not know that humans can do a lot of harm to one another. You would also have to ignore history to believe that humans can't also be amazingly kind and selfless in their actions too.

People throw out words like conservative, liberal, feminist, atheist, Christians, Muslim etc. so that they don't have to actually listen to what members of those group's say. It is easier to let a label determine how you feel about a person than to actually have a conversation with that person.

Of course people are evil. Americans for instance.

Ridiculous stereotype. I consider myself liberal, and I think it's an excellent movie. I also have zero problems seeing people punished for their crimes, including the death penalty.

reply

Ditto, although I consider myself an Independent. I'm a big believer of commit the crime, do the time. However, I also know a lot of people who are incarcerated have mental health issues and that rehabilitation, not jail time, will help the problem.

My old self-defense instructor is a bit time right-winger. He once discredited the field of Psychology in front of the class because it was his opinion, and anyone be dammed who doesn't believe his opinion is right. He looked at me with a smirk and said, "no offense" since I'm in grad school studying Forensic Psych. I wanted to ask him if autistic kids were faking it for the attention, or if the mentally disabled kids were the ones doing it, but I held my tongue as I would have gotten a better argument challenging a wall.

Have a certain belief? That's fine. But don't shove it down everyone's throats, don't group any and all who oppose you into a single entity, and most importantly, don't use it to profit or hurt anyone or anything else. THIS is why I hate republicans to the core.

Well, that's a really random and stupid assumption.

"The right to bear arms is as important as freedom of speech".

Wow. You sum up what is wrong with America perfectly. So. *beep*

reply

Also, do some research on Australian mass shootings. They did ban guns after the first event. Guess what, people didn't suddenly start knifing people to death. America and most of her people are just crazy *beep* gun nuts that don't know their own *beep* from a hole in the ground.

It must be sad to go through life with imaginary enemies around every corner.
