When did you first discover the Nerd?

For me, it all started one day in 2006 when I was looking for game footage of Who Framed Roger Rabbit on YouTube. I came across a review of the game by the Angry Nintendo Nerd. I liked that name, so I checked it out. I have the NES game and I personally find it fun, although long and challenging. Everything he said made sense, I liked that cursing out Jessica Rabbit part, and he's right, Judge Doom IS impossible.
I then saw he had other videos, so I checked out his Back to the Future review, mainly because I foolishly bought that game at a flea market with the impression that it would be good. James was right on with everything he said. I can't get passed the cafe stage either.
Karate Kid, don't have the game, but I enjoyed the review.
Then I saw his Friday the 13th review. I have that game, bought it the same day as BTTF and under the same impression, and that game was also a pile of sh!t. Now in the intro, I saw a clip from Ninja Turtles and thought, "oh, wow, he reviewed that game too? I GOTTA see that." But Friday the 13th was a cliffhanger, so I had to check out Nightmare on Elm Street first. That game I don't have, but it looks as bad as the Nerd says it is.
Then I saw Ninja Turtles, and it became my favorite. I was laughing so hard.

From then on, I've caught all his new videos and have become a fan. Mainly because we seem to have similar opinions on games.

I cant remember exactly, but it was very early on. It was either the Karate Kid or the TMNT review that was the first one I saw. Been a solid fan ever since.

The Colecovision/Intellavision episode.

I had a Colecovision as a kid, and was curious to see if I could find any only videos about it online. The first thing that popped up was the then brand new AVGN video. I got hooked.

In early 2010, someone who knew that I was a retro gamer linked me to a Spoony review of Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight. Later that year, I decided to try and find that video again and instead came across the Nerd's take on the game. He's a very fun reviewer. He's expected to be angry and complain, but he also gives a lot of examples of good games. A number of reviewers focus almost entirely on the negative and neglect to provide a standard. It just makes a person seem unpleasable and nitpicky when all they do is find fault with everything and their opinion doesn't really matter. In the Nerd's reviews, he's constantly pointing out what should have been done instead or where a better game used the same concept to better fruition.

His background in making short films really helps too. I believe the Friday the 13th review was the second or third one I saw and I was very impressed at how well he handled it. I didn't even pick up on the horror movie lighting until hearing his commentary on it, but I still thought he did a good job of making it funny and incorporating cinematic elements. I also loved how Jason forced him to heap false praise on the game under penalty of death whereas Freddy delighted in torturing him with his game's admittedly bad quality. It was a nice bit of contrast between the two icons of horror.

So yeah, I've watched his videos ever since.

I first discovered The Nerd when a buddy of mine on MSN sent me a link to the Sega CD review which I think was the newest AVGN video at the time. After that I started checking out more Nerd episodes and became hooked over time.

,,No way? Thats great! We landed on the moon!"

Someone linked it on Dr. Ashens' forum, which sadly does not exist any more.... it was either Pong Consoles or Game Glitches, don't remember.

The glitched Clubber Lang kills me every time.

That and the Bug-eyed Balboa glitch nearly made me piss myself. One of his funniest episodes by far.

I also loved the part where they stood around completely exhausted and just fell to the floor.

I hate to admit this but about 10 minutes ago.I was looking up star trek stuff on YouTube and found the nerd. Hilarious reviews of old star trek games. I just checked his name out here and now find hes making/made a movie. Pretty sweet.

Great way to get started on the series.

After seeing the episodes where Nostalgic Critic insults and clashes with the Nerd, I became interested in what his series was and that was when I got hooked on Cinemassacre for life. I love the Nerd series as well as the other productions like Board James, Bullsh*t Man, and Monster Madness.

I stumbled on his vids by accident when i was on a Ventrilo Harassment video binge it was only a small clip of the nerd from the CDI zelda ep where he says "it comes on a CD". I thought it was a clip of a real nerdy guy and tracked it down through the comments. This was back in 2010 so i had a whole 4 years worth of vids to catch up on and watched them all in one go.

I prefer the hardware reviews especially the SegaCD as it struck a chord due to me pining for one when i was a teenager in the 90's and finally bought one with a load of games back in 04 from a yardsale really cheap, and couldnt believe the sheer amount of bad games for it.

Somebody embedded the Friday the 13th video on a comment on a blog post on NES games back in 2006. Or maybe it was the Top Gun one. Either way, that's how I found it.

This is my signature. There are many like it, but it is mine.

I was searching youtube way back in 2006, for clips from Back To The Future. Then I saw that this guy had made a review of an old NES game based on the movie. "Cool" I thought. So I watched it, loved it and has been a fan ever since. :)
