the low ratings is due to racism
who agrees ?
Has to be. Couldn't be because the show sucks and places greater importance on promoting an extreme leftist agenda than it does on story telling. The Star Wars franchise 'was' sacred for generations, now it has been effectively shit upon in every way imaginable.
shareReally? What "extreme leftist agenda" did you consider it was promoting ahead of storytelling?
As for "sacred" for generations:- Return of the Jedi released 1983, The Phantom Menace 1999. Not sure if sixteen years qualifies as "generations"...
Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.
Disney has been pushing the gay thing for decades. With this woke nonsense, it's kicked into overdrive and permeates everything they do.
Star Wars debuted in 1977. It's 2024, dumbass. Who said anything about Phantom Menace???
You literally said the franchise was "sacred for generations". What time period was this "generations"? Because no one who loved the OT found the prequels to be sacred, I can tell you that, so you'd need to qualify this generations gibberish...
And where did you find this "gay thing" being pushed in this show?
Now you may be correct with some Disney output but my guess here is that you haven't even watched this particular show, that you've seen fit to comment on, as there was precisely 0% gay pushing seen on-screen.
A generation is normally counted as twenty years, ie long enough for a baby to grow up and have a baby, ie the next generation.
I've seen reviews showing quite a bit of gay pushing. And I've seen the show director and the star laughing like retards about how it is the "Gayest" star wars yet. So.... why are you denyhing it?
I've seen reviews showing quite a bit of gay pushing.
So, the director and the star were lying?
shareGod knows - I haven't seen their interviews only the actual show itself.
Please do watch it and inform me of the gay pushing...
I think I will talke the director, teh star and the various reviewers I have heard, at their word, instead of trusting you.
And just assume you are supportive of the gay pushing.
LOL - What a prat. You literally DO NOT have trust me.
I said to you to watch it and inform me of the gay pushing as I saw absolutely no evidence of this.
So it would be hilarious to have you watch it and have to say something like - Yeah, these two female characters talk together so they must be lesbians π...
As I said, you'd be better off on the Doctor Who board. I believe there's some actual real meat there for you and your pals to sink your mutual wank-fest teeth into...
Can't be bothered.
shareSo, the director and the star were lying?
Their response was clear. They were delighted at the idea of it being the "gayest".
They laughed at the gay interviewers comment and that was it.
Your ability to give me ANY quote from them saying this or saying that they wish to push a gay agenda will be right up there with your ability to describe all the gay pushing within the show itself.
Proud boy ignorance. Really something...
Not sure why you are denying it.
Do you not personally support "inclusion" and "representation" and all that shit?
Do you not think that the female married lesbian producer, supports "inclusion" and "representation" and all that shit?
In the real world, you support the show being the "Gayest", you know that the lesbian producer supports the show being the "gayest",
yet, you don't want to discuss this honestly and openly.
Why?
Watch the interview.
Watch the show.
Then form an honest opinion which is actually your own instead of regurgitating garbage.
Case in point being this interview:- I burst out laughing when I saw it, given that fools, like yourself, have attributed the "gayest Star Wars" line to her even although she never even said.
So yeah, there's "pushing" going on around this show but it's not of the gay variety...
Foot, you clearly support the show being "gay".
So, be honest about that and be honest about why.
This bit where you want the show to be "gay" but, want to gaslight the rest of us, into pretending it isn't,
it makes you look like you think of YOURSELF as the bad guy.
Nonsense.
My only comments have been to point out this supposed "gay pushing" doesn't exist within the show.
Now, I only "bumped" this strand today to point out that your "gayest Star Wars" assignment was also a complete fabrication.
I now know, having seen both the show and that interview, that you have 0% credibility to anything you've said. Thus there is no pointing in me continuing this any further. I'd be as well continuing to argue with some mentalist telling me the sky wasn't blue. Therefore:-
Good day to you Sir π.
Except instead of me claiming that the sky is not blue,
you are refusing to admit that you support "gay pushing" and that the married lesbian producer also supports "gay pushing".
Why do you not want to admit that you support "gay pushing"?
Because that is simply garbage.
Look at my posts here:-
https://moviechat.org/tt12262202/The-Acolyte/666f02e1dc9b6557ba7b631e/nope-learned-my-lesson-with-Star-strek-Crapcovery
And even on this thread, here:-
https://moviechat.org/tt12262202/The-Acolyte/66714732f7b5d61a649c0b20/the-low-ratings-is-due-to-homophobia?reply=66719919f7b5d61a649c0ca4
Problem for clowns like yourself is that you have no nuance at all. Like your politics, it all has to be one or the other.
So you have absolutely no concept / mental reference point that I can be saying to you that the show has no "gay pushing" and the show runner said sweet fa about it being the "gayest Star Wars" and not necessarily be a supporter of wokeness.
All you've got is b-llshit third hand false information and proud boy supporting of a narrative that doesn't even exist.
That's why I have nothing further to say to you here. You are valueless.
So once again:- Good day to you Sir ππΌ.
So you need people to make up your mind for you? I thought you said you would watch these properties no matter what? Remember you are obligated to watch. Why are you relying on other's opinion?
shareTypical of a leftard asshole. YOu attack me for months for watching shit that I complain about, and now that I don't watch it, you attack me for that.
Go fuck yourself, you worthless piecce of shit. You are a coward and a pussy.
No I said you get to control what you watch. You told me to fuck off and that you had to watch these properties out of obligation. So now you don't watch and you are complaining about what you heard from your braindead YouTube group. That's the difference when I stop watching properties I don't need to complain about them anymore. You are unhappy miserable idiot who will complain no matter what. Which shows your view isn't worth respecting, you just parrot what other incels think. Keep relying on other people's opinion idiot.
Go fuck yourself incel.
Your shit talk excuses for your behaviour is noted and dismissed.
Your denial is noted. Your opinion on this show holds no credibility whatsoever since you've never seen it. All you can do is point to other reviewers opinion. Which makes sense, idiots like yourself need their opinions given to them. Typical right wing behavior.
shareYou hold contridictory positions.
I disagree with BOTH of them.
The trailers, the various clips, the reviews, the analysises, all point to this being another in a long pattern of woke messes.
Your opposition to the concept of learning, is... not healthy.
Nope you don't get to use reviews and analysis of things to prove your point. Black Panther got great reviews from critics, and the mass majority of people and it made tons of money. That didn't stop you from saying it's a bad movie. So the majority can't be wrong right? If you can disagree with the majority so can others. Bottom line you are relying on other people's views not your own. It shows you are a sheep and a fucking idiot.
Go watch it remember you have an obligation to watch it. After all it's star wars. You need to watch it. Go support it.
You seem to think that I was citing critics as AUTHORITIES who's judgement we should defer to without question.
I was actually referring to their arguments and analysises, and would be happy to discuss the points they raise or any counterpoints you can think of.
Their arguments and analysis are opinions. One doesn't have to agree with a review or analysis. How can you chime in when you haven't seen it? It's like commenting on food you haven't tasted.
shareI didn't see WWII, but I am happy to have an opinion on it and discuss it.
I suspect you are not old enough to have seen slavery in the United States, but I suspect that you have an opinion on it, and if confronted by someone who supported it, you would not hesitate to discuss it, or argue points about it.
Your...searching for excuses to avoid discussion is your brain inventing rationalizations for you to avoid arguments that you know you cannot win.
Your brain knows that you cannot win an argument on "woke" issues, because it knows that you are on the wrong side of this issue.
Not the same. We have endless history books by actual historians and evidence documented. Much different from some stupid YouTuber ranting online about his view on a fictional story. Nice try though. Your opinion holds no weight and isn't credible. Can a critic review a film without watching it? That's basically what you are doing.
Clearly the scale is different. I didn't think that I had to explain to you, that i was NOT implying that the Acolyte was as big or as important an operation as WWII, or American slavery.
Where, you truly confused by that? Did you really think that that was my intent?
Or was that just you pretending to be GROSSLY RETARDED, in order to just post a tiny bit of negative text?
You attempted to use that as if it was the same type of thing. Can a critic review something without watching the film?
shareIt is the same principle, ie people having opinions and discussing an event or topic they do not have personal experience with.
YOU made a point about the tv show not being the same "thing" as WWII, or American Slavery.
That was grossly retarded of you, as i pointed out.
Are you admitting that that was just you trolling, or are you claiming to actually be that retarded?
No it isn't. Considering we have books by actual historians and archaeological evidence to support that history. Worlds apart from discussing thoughts on a piece of fictional art. Even if you want to go that route we can though. A Holocaust survivor is going to have stronger credibility than someone who has never experienced the Holocaust and only heard about it.
No you are the one who tried to say it's the same thing not me. Your dude also says something is woke before watching it. As I pointed out with Furiosa. So no I'm not trusting you idiots, especially when I've seen the product and it often times doesn't apply.
I was not saying that they were the same thing.
So, your position is that you are actually so retarded that you thought that I was saying that the are the same thing...
That is not credible. You are clearly not that stupid.
So, you are just shit talking as a form of trolling.
It was a dumb analogy even if I take you at your word.
Someone who actually watched the film that reviews a movie or show holds more credibility than some stupid idiot who is simply parroting what he's been told. You hold no credibility whatsoever. You are parroting what you've been told. Makes sense though that's what incels do. Thank God idiots like you are not involved on making films. You wouldn't be able to do it. You rely on other people's views, you can't think for yourself.
It was a fine analogy. I don't know why you want to be seen as so retarded that you didn't understand the concept it.
No the analogy was shit. You have way more insight on a war historical event than a fucking piece of artistic fiction.
The point stands you hold no credibility since all you are doing is parroting what others said.
Said the man that is pretending to think that I meant that the ACOLYTE was a world war, or slavery.
The point stands you have no credibility since you didn't watch it. You only parrot what other people have said.
shareThe point is that you are claiming to be retarded, GROSSLY AND INSANELY retarded.
So, what kind of credibility does a man who insists that he is massively not intelligent, have?
Your deflection is noted and dismissed.
The point stands you are parroting what others have said because you are too stupid to form your own opinion. I thought you had an obligation to watch the show? You backpedaling?
"Because no one who loved the OT found the prequels to be sacred, I can tell you that, so you'd need to qualify this generations gibberish..."
I did. I went to see TPM 7 times at the theater. Maybe you should stop speaking for everyone. Besides, the prequel trilogy is irrelevant to this. Context, it's a thing.
Let's hash out this splitting of hairs. There is the generation of adults when the first film was released, that's my parents generation. There's the generation of kids that grew up with it, that's my generation. There is the next generation that grew up with it, the generation of my children who would be in their 20's by now, if I had any. That's three generations, shit for brains.
"And where did you find this "gay thing" being pushed in this show?"
Are you fucking serious??? It's literally referred to as "the gayest Star Wars yet" by its creators.
I did. I went to see TPM 7 times at the theater.
It is splitting hairs. What kind of moron gets into a deep dive over an off the cuff statement like that?
If you had a brain, you'd realize that someone who loved the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy probably enters the theater with an open mind, WANTING to like it. If I had that approach to TPM, would I not do the same now? Yes, I do and the trailers are enough to turn me off the Acolyte. Not to mention the crushing reviews and low as whale shit IMDB rating. Besides, I dumped Disney+ when they canned Gina Carano.
TPM has not a fucking thing to do with this discussion.
Besides, I dumped Disney+ when they canned Gina Carano...
bad writing is not racism
shareWhat was your favourite example of the bad writing?
shareIf you watched the episode 3 do you really have to ask?
A group of force witches so powerful they can create life, have to run and hide in the big fortress on the top of a mountain, probably can be seen from space, and all killed by one little girl in an accidental fire.
I was asking someone else. However, I thought you weren't watching these? Have you now watched episode 3 in order to make informed comment?
Funnily enough, I actually commented on the issue of the fire on another thread but apparently not all may be what it seems re that, so the writing may not be so off there as much as our interpretations...
I tried to watch it, but could not get through, but I watched a number of reviews of the episode 3, most of which are actually far more entertaining. This one I think talked about the plot problem the most: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eiT85LZPqk
shareI'm not watching YouTube videos but you'd be better off actually watching it rather than criticising based on third hand "information".
Sure it's got some bad things but actually, if you think about it, it's actually nonsense to criticise the fire as "bad writing", even if there isn't more to it than meets the eye (which is being suggested - I guess since we're dealing with Midi-chlorian life creating manipulation and we're in the Plagueis era).
What's written on paper here may be that she started a fire which burned down their building and killed everyone with the fumes. If that's the case, it isn't the writing which is the problem is it. It's the execution on screen, which is another department...
But again, to be clear, I haven't seen any Disney Star Wars with amazing writing. In fact, I don't think I've seen ANY Star Wars with particular great writing, so there's definitely a question mark as to why this show in particular seems to be subject to such criticism...
It's horrible and people like you should stop making excuses for them.
shareLOL. I was literally one of the first people on here making a thread to criticise this show:-
https://moviechat.org/tt12262202/The-Acolyte/66609f38d8aebc628f7e3f39/Without-Getting-Into-The-Whole-Hornets-Nest-Of-Woke-Casting-etc
But at least I've actually watched it and made genuine criticism based upon what was actually IN the show rather than regurgitating third hand nonsense which isn't even true.
I don't have to eat a turd to know I do not want to eat a turd.
shareIf it were any good I would have been able to get through it, but I couldn't.
You could talk about various aspects of the show, but if I can't even force through it, then it is bad, at least for me.
And it does not look like I am the only one with that opinion.
You certainly aren't the only one! Unfortunately though, most of these people are forming their opinions via watching the rambling of some angry types of a very particular demographic, rather than actually through watching the show themselves.
And therefore "their" opinions are of 0% value to me.
It's a shame actually because one of the most ridiculous things I found about the show hasn't even been raised by anyone on here yet. I was hoping to see if anyone else had picked up on how bad it was...
You're a real Kool Aid drinkin' fanbitch, aren't you?
shareI've watched all the episodes thus far and formed my own judgement.
There's only one person proudly drinking their own particular brand of kool aid here and seemingly too lacking in self awareness to truly appreciate the stupidity of having raising such a statement... π
Sorry but you don't come off as a free thinker. Or someone who would take a stand on anything meaningful. I'm simply not going to give money to people who are diametrically opposed in every way.
shareSorry but you don't come off as a free thinker...
.... most of these people are forming their opinions via watching the rambling of some angry types of a very particular demographic, rather than actually through watching the show themselves.
It has a 3.4/10 rating. You're one of those morons that has to eat a turd to know it tastes like shit.
shareI never claimed it was good though, did I muppet?
And I'd rather be my type of moron than one who needs to listen to others telling them what tastes like shit or not, Mr "free thinker" / non kool aid drinker π
Grade A Clown π€‘ material...
So you admit it's garbage? Cool, we both came to the same conclusion, yet you had to watch it, I didn't.
Disney has already well proven itself to be a woke entity with an obvious agenda. This was true 35yrs ago when I was in high school and they were only hiring gays to play characters and it's only gotten worse. I don't have to watch every stupid thing they produce to know it's still true. If you do, then I feel sorry for you. Both for watching that crap and for thinking you're the smart one.
I never claimed it was garbage either though, did I muppet?
I'm always going to feel I'm the "smarter one" than someone who admits to not having watched it yet is bring stuff up like "free thinker" and "kool aid" seemingly with 0% self awareness of how moronic that is...
As I said, Grade A Clown π€‘ material.
Now, like some kind of drooling pavlovian dog, you obviously won't be able to help yourself from responding but I have nothing further to add here.
As I said, there's a real "special" intelligence at work here to accuse others of not "free thinking" whilst admitting their own "opinion" is formed third hand π. But of course, as that same "special" intelligence won't be able to appreciate the irony there... So with that being said:-
Good day to you Sir π
being critical of something doesnt equate to racism.
shareNah. Outside of the usual Anti-"woke", Alt-lite reactionary talking heads on YouTube who literally make a living off of that sort of crap, it's more likely that the low ratings are because audiences have been increasingly turning away because of a steady stream of poor-quality Di$ney Wars films & tv shows that have damaged the Star Wars brand. Even the highly praised (and rather overrated) 'Andor' got lukewarm ratings.
shareNope.
When show fails it's not because of racism, sexism, or other -ism, or -phobia. It's because it's garbage.
Using that argument only shows you come with bad faith... Just like you did.
