What if they made this movie without the lame robot aliens?

Like say they did the pub crawl but there was another obstacle like the jerks that used to bully them in high school are also trying to get to The Worlds End. And they have to get there first to get back at them.

Sounds ridiculous I know, but its still alot better than some aliens trying to wipe out the town all of a sudden.

The aliens weren't trying to wipe anyone out. They wanted humanity to grow up, become more "civilized" and conform to their standards of how a species should behave. Unfortunately, humans just want to be free and live according to our own rules, no matter how childish or pathetic the aliens might think we are. Sound familiar? Yeah - it's a metaphor for Gary and his friends.

Just Gary I think. His friends had moved on, conforming in the process - he hadn't.

The first act was so good (a man who couldn't let go of his past, trying to recreate it) but then the aliens/robots appeared and it all went to *beep*

I also really liked this movie until the aliens showed up. I liked the metaphor of the aliens -- that as you get older, younger people become strange (ie aliens) and as you grow apart from your childhood friends they become aliens too. But the fight scenes went on way too long. I loved the banter and the characterization...once it became The Matrix, I tuned out.

Wouldn't have been bad. Most likely really rather good, in fact. We've seen that a dozen times though. I'm glad that The World's End is what it is. I can't think of a film that's like it.

And that is why we don't see your name in film credits.
