A 6.6 is a disgrace !

I know everyone has different taste and opinions, and sadly for some odd reason people seem to dislike this movie, but a 6,6 is utterly disgraceful for this movie. It should be between 7,5-8,0.

Agree it is the best horror produced in the last fifteen years.

Works as both comic horror as well as serious horror.

reply

Most definitely.

I think that accolade belongs to The Descent, frankly, but I think highly of this one too. I gave it an 8 (but would have been 8.5 if IMDb allowed half stars on voting).

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

reply

I know. It should be a 1. That ending was so stupid and cliched.

Honestly, I think people are riding Raimi's dick like they ride Romero's.

reply

I gave it a 9!...I never saw any trailers or anything...was presently surprised...really unique film

reply

Agreed. It's probably a very rare occurrence when critics rate a horror movie higher than the IMDb voting public. I don't get the hate the high number of 1 scores this film has got. People who rate films of this quality 1 are ignorant. They seriously need to be made to watch truly awful films to re-evaluate how they rate movies on here.

I rated it an 8 but like another above me would have given it 8.5 if half stars were an option. It's definitely one of the best horror films of the last 20 years. Definitely would be in my top 10 of that period.

Right off the bat the movie is going to take a hit in terms of IMDb rating because there are people who just hate horror and rate every horror movie a 1.

Then, because the movie is playful with the genre and drops in a lot of humor, the fanboys will rate it a 1. They have this little by the numbers formula they want to see every horror movie follow, because they're that original.

A more accurate read on appraisal of the film is Rotten Tomatoes. The movie is over 90% certified fresh.

reply

Man, you guys sound like the fanboys.

The ending was completely cliche.

I agree, there's a reason the film has a 92% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It's one of my favorite movies, and I gave it an 8, so I understand it's tremendously campy -- far too much so to expect anything beyond a 7 from the general audience. I'd be happier if it sat upwards of a 7, but I can't do anything about it.

A lot of parents fee fees were hurt because the kid was dragged to hell in the beginning.

reply

that's not a bad rating for a horror movie on IMDB

for horror i'd say anything above a 6 is good

so many movies, so little time
