Well it really doesn't matter it's the quality that matters.

Inserting some diversity into a show is fine by me.But forcefully blackwashing or whitewashing iconic characters to shoehorn in diversity is irritating.I find it funny that you never hear these lack of diversity complaints on shows with all black or latino casts.
shareIt's like doing an all black production of Hamlet or a black Catwoman or Jim Gordon.
Blackwashing iconic characters is pointless, the only logic behind it is to make it seem really progressive.
When watching something like The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air I was never feeling we got to have white people in this.
Black Catwoman ... hmm, i think this happened already. And the funny thing is that NO ONE cared ...
That speaks tons about our society.
As an idea: there was a video with a lady talking about the importance of not sending our gems on mars or other planets.
And my reaction?? "Wow, a video with a black lady that is an articulated, intelligent, strong, bla bla POC woman and there is NO reference to her sex/gender or the color in the video or article, are we starting to go to normal?"
So, bottom line: i don't care about the sex or the color of the character unless it is forced ...
Yup. Eartha Kitt was awesome as Catwoman on the '60s TV series. Halle Berry...not so much...

Ugh, do people still make stupid "arguments" like this? There's one hundred years of films and TV with all white cast and you people still complain about a few dozen minority led shows?
He said race swapping characters not minority led shows. There is a difference that you obviously can't see.
share"all black or latino casts"
shareWell just to clarify i have no problem with any show that's predominantly one race.I loved the Cosby show and Family ties equally.I don't care about race Gender or sexuality so long as the writing and acting entertain me.It just bugs me when shows like Buffy or Friends have shade thrown at them for being to white and not diverse enough. It is not a legitimate reason to knock a show.
In any case i was specifically speaking about blackwashing/whitewashing characters for the sake of diversity.Diversity is great.we need more diverse shows on tv.But it should come through originality not hijacking established characters.
>It just bugs me when shows like Buffy or Friends have shade thrown at them for being to white and not diverse enough. It is not a legitimate reason to knock a show.
It is absolutely legitimate criticism. Are you white?
I am white and no it is absolutely not a legitimate criticism. The quality of a show is what matters not the race of the cast.If you don't like the writing, acting or if a show just doesn't do it for you that's fine. Those are fair understandable criticisms. To each their own.But to knock a show because of the color of the cast whether they be black or white is a small minded unimportant criticism that has nothing at all to do with the quality of the acting or writing.
share"I am white"
There you go. Of course it's not a big deal to you. 🙄
Hollywood is not the only cinema industry in the XXth century.
You had Asian cinema, which casted 99.9% of Asians. And Indian cinema, which casted 99.9% of Indians. And African cinema, which casted 99.9% of blacks. And so on.
But as usual, it's only a problem with whites, because of white guilt faith and let's whip ourselves!

Another moronic "argument" from moviechat's resident white supremacist. The USA has a more diverse society than those countries, idiot.

"Since diversity is creating problems and obstacles, the logical solution is to make societies less diverse."
As the premise is false, the "solution" is equally ridiculous.
Protip: Better to stay mum, rather that open your mouth and yawp absurdities.
Protip #2: A vanishingly small minority of complainers on a chat board is NEVER a good indication of societal mores.

Ah, I get it. . .you're confused.
I didn't point out any "problem created by diversity." You seem to be responding to the wrong person.
That being said, your premise/conclusion chain is terribly broken, and you seem to be fundamentally unable to understand why. It's actually fascinating to watch. I would try again, but doubt it'd be a useful exercise. Carry on. . .
where did you learn how to read?
he's not complaining about minority-led shows at all,
do you just assign a poster's own narrative before even finishing reading their posts? so that you can foolishly argue a point that was never made?
He has a problem with the lack of white people in shows like Blackish. Read between the lines, man.
shareThe Kents are caucasian. That's all there is to it. If there are people who don't like that fact, they don't have to watch.
shareWoke trash-tier writers compensating for lack of their quality.
I will never forgive them for what they did to Jimmy Olsen on that shittastic show.
Simple litmus test. Which of these statements do you agree with.
An all black show requires diversity of white actors.
An all white show requires diversity of black actors.
Every MSM will side with only one of those and if you disagree you will be called racist. That is not diversity. That is a pushed narrative. There is nothing wong with having a white cast just like there is nothing wrong with having a black cast. For some reason though we must do everything to remove white actors for black but never the other way.
I'm glad they ignored stupid calls.
shareI think they're forgetting that Dean Cain was half Japanese. If they wanted to they could cast a 'mixed race Clark Kent/Superman. After all--he is supposed to be from Krypton originally and there is no lock on what a Kryptonian physically is supposed to look like.
shareF people like that. Superman is adopted by white Mid-Westerners. It's who he is. Do we want a white Black Panther? No, because he's an African King. These people are clowns.
shareThis is just like Iron Fist when Finn Jones was cast. The "wokers" cried foul because "they should have cast an Asian actor." Problem with that thinking is that Danny Rand is supposed to be a rich white kid who is in a plane crash with his parents over the mythical city of Kun Lun. When he comes back to America the story is a fish out of water one. Danny has been changed into this thing called The Iron Fist and has to get on as someone who has returned to a land that is as foreign to him as Kun Lun was when his parents plane went down when he was a kid. But nope, the "wokers" made it difficult for Finn during that time.
shareI don't understand how these people continue to gain power (getting people fired), there are A LOT of people against woke culture. Republicans, Independents, hell, even some liberals trash this crap direction society is headed in. People are tired of this shit, but we keep catering to them.
