I guess
I have to re-watch all the prior films first, huh? I barely remember them.
sharethis seems like a 100% rehash of the first
shareDo people who say this just not feel like trying? This is the go to criticism anymore. It's so fucking lazy.
shareIt's because it's true.
shareIt's been a few years since I watched the original. When did old Jada Pinkett Smith pop up in that one? Which part showed Trinity in the Matrix, completely unaware of who she was? Speaking of her, when was she shown to have abilities comparable to The One? I forget. What about Neo being in therapy because the machines are fully aware he's the anomaly. I thought the Agents didn't know about The One? Morpheus being resurrected by nanomachines happens at what point in the first one?
shareBoring.
shareI don't give a flying if you think it's boring, none of that is from the original movie. Fuck your lazy argument.
shareSo you specifically cherry pick certain items and then ignore the parts that are a straight copy of the original movie.
Interesting
Yes, I backed up my point with evidence. Very good. That's 4 of you now who haven't even attempted to do the same.
shareI agree with you. The "straight copy of the original movie" incidents actually seem to be deliberate & knowing self-references, all part of an even more complex & confining Matrix. I'll have to see it to know if that's true or not, but it's the feeling I get from the trailer.
shareYeah, it's a really lazy criticism to just presume that the movie is recycling.
Building off a prior installment in this manner has the potential to be inspired and compelling. Mind you, I have very little hopes for this film but, so many ppl immediately screaming rehash aren't really thinking it through.
I'll agree to mixed feelings & uncertainty as to the wisdom of another film, but I'm also willing to wait & see how it turns out. Sequels more often give diminishing returns, but once in a while one will be surprisingly good & offer something new. It would be nice to get that with this sequel.
shareThe plot looks nothing like the original. Neo is being held captive. They machines are actively holding him captive because they know who he is and are scared of him and/or are taking advantage of his power. The Agents chasing him in the original didn't even know about the "The One" and were totally shocked when he came back to life. Now they are fully aware and keeping him drugged/asleep.
Neo and Trinity were not both plugged in either. He was, but had no idea what was going on. Here, he has memories of his previous life. She wasn't plugged in at all, but was rather a full-blown member of the resistance.
But hey, some of the characters came back so "iT's A REhaSh!"
I know, I know!
The meta aspect of this new Matrix is intriguing, turning its own grim & hard-won history into just a popular & entertaining fiction, all to keep Neo unaware of his true state & doubting his own memories.
Why is the first impulse of so many people to expect the worst? Maybe even anticipate it gleefully? I think a lot of people are actually hoping for a disaster of a film. And that's rather sad.
I always loved discussing this series. There were parts of the 2nd that frustrated me, but overall I enjoy the trilogy a lot. Great mythology and topics for discussion.
People don't want to talk about these things anymore. They just want rant and rave. I got no problem criticizing something, but everything is bitching and moaning before it even comes out. "IT's WoKE!" "It'S a REhasH!" Bunch of mindless idiots.
It's become the war cry for people who think a movie looks bad/they don't want to see it. They put no thought into the comment and as you can see from the multiple responders below, don't even try to back up the claim either; and then act indignant that you point that out.
sharehow about this for a lazy argument:
movie starts:
matrix code falls down the screen
stops for blinking cursor upper left
phone call sounds
people talking on phone
numbers scrolling down screen being selected at top, as if being traced
cut to guys with guns with flashlights in a dark, murky corridor, searching....
tell me, is that the original matrix or this new movie?
either answer is correct.
do you fucking get it yet?
Have you seen the trailers at all?????
sharehave YOU? Because old Jada Pinkett Smith isn't in the original? Trinity was never plugged into the Matrix, completely unaware of who she was in the first movie. Speaking of Trinity, when was she shown to have abilities comparable to The One? I forget. What about Neo being in therapy because the machines are fully aware he's the anomaly. I thought the Agents didn't know about The One, let alone he was it? Morpheus being resurrected by nanomachines happens at what point in the first one? Fucking lazy ass argument that requires no effort.
sharedid you see NO recreations of the first movie here? you are not grasping why people are calling it out. nevermind not worth the time
shareYou haven't even attempted to make your case.
shareyou are always gonna see something in a sequel from its predecessor.
Did you see Canonball run II ?
they had a race , just like the first one!
even some of the actors were the same!
watch the trailer, please. we are talking full scene duplication. just because the people and idea is the same, isnt what any of us are talking about. we're talking about recreations of the first movie - HOPEFULLY for the plot - but it takes up story and screen time that could have been used for a new, better story. not yet another retread. we'll see after release.
Reviews are pretty low.
"they had a race , just like the first one!
even some of the actors were the same!"
This is how these idiots operate. Look at them. Every single one of them. "iT'S a ReHAsh!"
Me: Why is that?
Them: JuST WaTCh ThE tRAiLEr!
So they are not the same, that is your stance. Ok.
This film is about a computer generated world created by an architect (sorry the analyst) where humans are used as batteries to power it. At some point the main star is released from the prison of the matrix and has to become the one to save humanity.
I've seen that film. It is the called The Matrix.
Oh sorry the Matrix is now a game instead, again reasons.
Even the love story between Neo and Trinity was already done and actually better within the first 3 movies.
Swarm mode by the Architect, for love of god. Lets make everyone zombies because reasons.
The film is 1 through back to another through back of the original movies over and over again. The amount of flashbacks and call backs I may as well have watched the first movie. The statue of Morpheous is atrocious.
The Matrix Regurgitation is basically the first 3 films crammed into one movie and done worse, like literally much worse. The special effects are awful, the acting is awful, the script is awful, the music is awful. My god they replaced Rage Against the Machine with an atrocious gender swapped version. You know because they are trans.
Like it all you want but they are the same film. Cherry picking slight differences doesn't change that fact.
Star Wars and Terminator both tried this same formula and failed miserably. Another Matrix, another architect, another Morpheus, another agent smith and so on and son.
And of course to cap it off we can't have that straight white male being the hero anymore. Oh no it has to be Trinity as well. God forbid.
"This film is about a computer generated world created by an architect (sorry the analyst) where humans are used as batteries to power it. At some point the main star is released from the prison of the matrix and has to become the one to save humanity."
Therefore ReHaSH! LOL, is this how simplistic your mind is? That's pathetic. They're all about a computer generated world in which machines enslave humanity. You people are such cliches. You ever threw in gender swap complaints!
A Morpheus statue?! *clutches pearls*
It took 8 hours and 5 different morons saying the same thing and this is the best 1 of them could come up with:
"This film is about a computer generated world created by an architect (sorry the analyst) where humans are used as batteries to power it. At some point the main star is released from the prison of the matrix and has to become the one to save humanity."
Therefore, IT'S a REhaSh!
I think what we have here is Matrix nerds in an abusive love/hate relationship with the series akin to the Star Wars fan boys who will do nothing but shit on the newer films because they arnt the same as when they were kids.
Its worse for these guys because only the first film was any good.
"because they arnt the same as when they were kids."
But they are. Remember, they're "JuSt A REhaSh!" Derpity derp derp.
The first movie was in this movie
shareOh, wait, because there are elements that are not in the first movie it means that there CAN'T be elements that are borrowed, copied from the previous movies....
So if someone throws few drops of red painting on Mona Lisa then obviously, based on your fucked up logic, there are NOT common elements with the old Mona Lisa because of those few drops???
GTFO.
"there CAN'T be elements that are borrowed, copied from the previous movies...."
There's like 10 posts from you idiots and you haven't named a SINGLE. ONE.
I was just pointing out that your "logic" is moronic and stupid.
That's all.
Name. One.
shareOk, I'll bite.
https://ibb.co/XZtVxVj
https://ibb.co/wSFPD6s I still know kung fu - LOLOLO
Lana,
you should not waste your time on the internet like this defending your movie. You could spend your time better learning to write more interesting stories, with less expositional dialog. I can send you some links if you wish...
I didn't like it how they kept replaying key moments of the first film, and its sequels over and over, throughout. It's a new film, create your own new moments instead of relying on ones from 1999 and 2003 respectively.
Even with all that, I'd give it a 6/10. Rewatchability seems less than the original films, but time will definitely tell with that one.
Just watch the 1st and third for a recap.
shareI’ve seen the 1st one about 50 times over the years. They show that film on television so much
