What you all think. Kevin Bacon had very little dancing skill but is an excellent actor. Kenny Wormald is an awesome dancer but has little acting skill. Is it more important to have Ren be a great dancer or a great actor?
shareWhen they cast 2 professional dancers I expected more dancing than in the original and was VERY disappointed when there wasn't. Hough and Wormack didn't act too badly, but they are dancers and I wanted to see way more of them doing what they do best!

shareI wasn't expecting much in the acting department just because the two leads started as dancers and not actors but i was very pleasantly suprised. Both of them did a great job with their roles. sometimes it doesnt work that way but i think in this case it worked.

i think kenny did pretty good job acting but no one can do it like kevin bacon!! he was great at acting like a good dancer and acting. :)

shareI thought he did pretty well too. I turned on this movie expecting to hate it and I didn't. Not as good as the original but it wasn't awful. Kenny was a lot better than I would have ever expected.

Bad MOVE.....And you could tell it in the film
Ahh Kenny did not do a great job, he infact did a really bad job.
Take away the pretty boy looks and the flashy smile you have zero appeal.
The guy cant act his way out of a box, his lines, his scenes and every moment he seemed completely disconnected from the character.
Same with Julianne Hough playing Ariel her lines were so drab and emotionless it was like they shot the rehearsal and used it instead of actually going for a good take.
Dennis Quaid was decent but he was better in the Parent Trap, Andie McDowell was better in other films it was as if they all didnt care because its a remake of a classic, it doesnt matter, they were still getting paid a lot of money no matter what and people were going to see it in droves. Which is basically what happened.
This who changing the story even with slight alterations, even killing his mom in the beginning didnt make Kenny more sympathetic to the audience. I know thats what they were going for, good looking, rebel without a cause James Dean wannabe who maned up and took care of his dying mother...ladies please wet your panties now.
While Jullians killer ass and move gave all the sex appeal that guys needed to watch this movie...though the girl that played Rusty was hot too (puerto Rican women, yummy).
This movie wasnt about selling a story, or a remake...it was simply about selling sex, selling ass.
No one there was good for the movie...they could have easily had the actors step out for the dancing scenes or thrown them into classes for the major ones...this was step 4 or 5 or however many there are of that crappy movie.
I kept wanting to Yell you got served as I watched Kenny act...funny that it turned out later he was actually in you got served...talk about two huge wastes of film, money and time.
In final, no dancers with no acting skills should ever lead films...it doesnt work.
Hence why Dirty Dancing was led by actors, Dirty Dancing 2 Havana Nights also by actors...in fact Diego Luna main guy from Havana Nights spoke about the decision the director made to use actors over dancers. For dance sequences you can use dancers but for the acting scenes where it requires emotion, passion and saying your lines with some depth it requires actors.
Chicago...actors.
Nine...Actors.
So let down big time, talk about killing a classic.
Jullian was hot though lot of sex appeal on that girl...though throughout the whole movie I kept thinking she was or should be a porn star...who agrees?
