Simply said....this sucked
The writers/directors had a chance to make a great sequal and really blew it! This movie made no sense whatsoever. And really bad choice in casting. JMO

shareYeah, not the best. It had something interesting going on at the heart of it, but chose a pretty terrible way to communicate it.

Agreed, money never sleep, but one could easily fall asleep trying to watch this.
Are we supposed to feel any excitement watching the story, any suspense ?
In the first film, Gekko was a son of a bitch, in this film he simply looks too much like a grandpa.
It doesn't feel like watching a shark.
The rest of the cast looks just as bad in their role.
It 's simply boring.
6.3 is way too high a score for this film.
i think michael douglas's great success in both this and the first movie was portraying the human side of the city shark...
i really felt that it was the same character i was watching...
although i did enjoy the movie, i think his performance was possibly it's strongest aspect...
Total let down.
I didn't have a problem with the casting, but the movie sucked.

It was a disappointment all right. A real drag to sit through.
Looks bobbins.
When I watched this movie I only experienced 2 fun parts in the whole movie, the rest of it really sucked.
1. Gordon getting out jail and getting his stuff from the 80s back. The look on the guy's face that hands him over his Motorola Dynatac (brick phone from the 80s) is just priceless Gordon casually takes back the phone and walks out as if he is still in the 80s and nothing has changed since he went to jail.
2. Gordon meets his old student/partner Bud at a party. Their differences from back in the day doesn't seem to matter anymore and it looks like they will become reacquainted again soon.
What I additionally like in this movie is the way Gordon is explaining the 80's to Jake and how that decade made his success. I would listen to the man all day if he was a real living person
The first movie will simply remain the best in my opinion.
Keeping the 80s up to date
This movie was simply lacking what Wall Street (1987) had going for it at the time: A powerful message behind insider trading, and, Reaganomics. Plus, the lack of Bud Fox (not including the cameo).
I tried to keep an open mind when viewing this film, but it was such a let-down. I'm glad Michael Douglas was able to reprise his role. Other than that, I can't really think of anything else worthwhile.
For example, what's with all of the computerized visuals? Everything from the stock tickers to Jake Moore's representation had to have a digital illustration. That's one more thing that made this sequel inferior.
Plus, what happened to Oliver Stone? This guy was at the top of his game when he wrote and produced the original movie.
Maybe it's the nostalgia, but this sequel was unable to hold my interest. This should have been a Lifetime movie. And, as somebody else had stated: "Money never sleeps, but I sure as hell did."
It surely did have a topical message: the bailout of th big banks in 08 and the great recession that followed. I thought it did a great job in making gecko the bear who saw that the fundamentals were off.
The computerized visuals are important too. The highly automated trading has affected markets today.
I'm no lebeuf fan, so I can understand if he ruined the movie for u.
