... and holy shit is it bad.

- CGI is atrocious all over the movie and it gets worse throughout the ending
- Superman's upper lip is laughable from the beginning and it gets worse.
- Plot is pretty much MoS 101 meets the Avengers - evil guy wants to terraform the planet with 3 Tesseracts.
- Steppenwolf looks straight out of a video game. A very bad video game.
- Wonderwoman is as fast as the Flash at moments [bank scene]
- Flash vs Superman is pretty much a ripoff of the Quicksilver vs Apokalypse scene in the X-men movie.
- When Cyborg flies to hold Superman, it looks terrible.
- Flash pushing the Amazonian sword to her scene is straight out of the other movie with Quicksilver.
- Aquaman is also pretty much Thor-like, except worse.
- Attempts at humor fall flat
- Plot holes. Plot holes everywhere
- "if there is 1% chance" now is "if there is an infinitesimal chance". Still stupid. [the irony is that Cyborg even regards so]
- Cyborg... gahhhhh
- Everyone looked like they were having a gun hold up into their skulls in order to act.
- Most of Flash's longer runs looked as bad as the 90's tv series look nowadays.
- The music is [again] a copy-paste of former material glued together at random. Some old Batman theme here, some old Supes theme there... sprinkled with WW's short burst for a theme and a lot of randomness for good measure.
- Dark filter [yet again]
- Some fighting scenes were way too fast and impregnated with lightning fxs to even tell what was going on.
- Quite a forgettable movie, villain, story, ost.
- Yawned quite a few times.
- The ending is visually atrocious.

The least bad:

- Gal Gadot did ok I guess, but not enough... but I can forgive her. The only one who took her acting somewhat seriously.

Conclusion:

Don't waste your money on a ticket.

Just a small correction, it was Superman who was as fast as the Flash, maybe even faster, since he caught up to him at the end...

Wonder Woman was merely "very fast", not Flash/Superman fast.

And again, why did every hero besides Superman get their asses kicked whole movie, by either Steppenwolf or Superman - that's what I hate the most - that a villian the JL couldn't touch, with their combined strength, Superman easily solos him... None of the others got an epic moment vs. Steppenwolf either, only Superman, who effortlessly ragdolled him, and left him to the losers to try and clean up while he catches up to Flash to save civilians. Atrocious movie that shits on everyone not a Superman wanker.

Wonder Woman displayed being faster than a machine gun spitting bullets on the Bank scene. That's Superman and Flash territory.

I'm not saying it's wrong, it just makes her OP as hell and reduces Flash's speed to her level.

I just saw the film and was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting a pile of crap like Avengers - thinking it would be all sfx action and little story. Yet, there actually was a story here - much better told than the one in avengers.

The villain was actually pretty formidable until superman showed up.

The acting was fine - as far as superhero films are concerned.

The music - every superhero film recycles similar epic music - were you hoping for Bach pieces? In a superhero film?
As far as humor is concerned, there's no doubt that Thor Ragnarok nailed humor bits better than any other superhero film.

At the end of the day, the one movie to which this one should be compared with is Avengers - and that movie I had to fast-forward 50% of the time, there was so little story there that it's not even funny. This one? I fast-forwarded 5% of the film.
Keep in mind, I despise batman films - so again, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked this film, despite batman being one of the characters - perhaps it's because batman really did seem like a human here - being overpowered by pretty much everyone throughout the film.

JL is Avengers 101 [assemble team to defeat alien invasion from a Loki wannabe who is searching for 3 Tesseracts]

The difference being, JL has horrid CGI and tries too hard to be fun

The premise is exactly the same, but the execution was different. This movie had a narrative that grabbed me, while avengers was a whole load of sfx-ridden fights stringed together with a barely existing storyline. I don't have the script from both films, but I suspect there was a whole lot more dialogue in this film, which has allowed the story to form and the characters' motivations to better develop.

Avengers had better sfx - but I really don't care if the storyline is poorly told and the characters are not given time to develop. I fastforwarded like 70% of that final fight in avengers.

Look, I'm just saying what I felt when I saw this film. I tend to see film at home - so fast forwarding many scenes in many films is not uncommon for me. I was sort of surprised when I found myself not fast-forwarding this film as much as I thought I would be. Hence the 'story grabbed me' bit.

that's ok. Nothing wrong with that. The problem is you saying that it's nothing like the Avengers when it is a carbon copy of the Avengers [but with very crappy CGI].

It's the bad version of Avengers. Where Avengers put heroes together and head to head, with everyone having good moments, better humor, better fights, and even a better story...

Avengers respected all the heroes. JL didn't. It basically shat on everyone not Superman, even the bad guy. Superflous plot, and 90% of the jokes were forced and not funny.

Wonder Woman (who held her own vs Doomsday): "Don't make me do this" -> Proceeds to get thoroughly owned, like her performance in BvS was non existing. Aquaman getting fucked under water, easily, by a villain. Flash slower than Superman. Holy fucking fuck.

Only thing I somewhat liked was the characters themselves (personas, specially Supermans lighter mood, but not hero performance), but even that was heavily flawed with lame bickering and emoness. Again, something Avengers did better. Though, when it had to shit on every JL member anyways, the stink eye from Superman to the Flash. That was epic. ;)

I really want to know how can you fast-forward a movie in the cinema??? You said you did it 5% of the film. You can't download JL movie yet even on pirated version, so can you tell me how, hmm?

Then, you must be watching it with the very very bad quality CAM Version and that's not good. You pirated it not even a week after its official released in cinemas and these kind of people are the ones who ruin the entertainment industry. smh

The movie itself is bad. The CGI quality is described by multiple viewers and critics as atrocious and you think I'm going to spend my money on shit so they can keep making them? SMH

The entertainment industry is fine. DCEU not so much.

But it's their fault for releasing shit. :)

I actually liked the movie for what it is in the end, and I didn't have much expectations before seeing it. Not the best DCEU effort, but with all things consider, it's also not their worst either next to SS or BvS.

Yeah, there are some muddle stuff from the flashy CGI/special effects and some detected editing moments, Superman's missing stache didn't felt all that distracting for me after a while, and I guess Steppenwolf could've been done better.

But I did liked most of the ensemble, Gadot is still the best as WW, as Affleck as Batman, Superman wasn't as moody this time, and it overall felt kind of fun and at least serviceable to watch. But to each their own.

Based on reviews, I didn't go see this during its initial release... Turned out to be the right decision.

I agree with virtually every one of your observations. For me, the biggest turnoff was the sub-par green screen/ CGI stuff and the overall uninspired story. Halfway through, I realized that I had no clue exactly why Steppenwolf -- a generic villain, if ever there was one -- was so pissed that he wanted to destroy Earth.

None of the actors seemed to be enjoying themselves, particularly Affleck.

What is ironic, for me, is that when I grew up reading comics, DC comics were considered more 'childish' than Marvel comics. The storylines were goofy -- Superdog, Superhorse, Mxyzptlk and Bat-Mite, Robin running around in those ridiculous green short shorts and shoes, etc -- whereas Marvel stories dealt with more mature themes -- teenage angst, racism, death and so on.

Yet their respective movies couldn't be more different. The Marvel movies are always careful to balance the world-ending stuff with a sense of humour. I loved Nolan's Batman trilogy, grounded as it was in the 'real' world (to the extent a comic book movie can be grounded). It also kept a sense of humour about itself.

All the DC movies I've seen so far in this new DCEU though are these dark, dreary and mostly sombre movies that don't engage me.

Dead on.

The sad thing is that some of the Justice League animated features are fantastic: Crisis on Two Earths and New Frontier stand out for me. They really understand tone for superhero movies a lot better than Snyder and friends.
