I'm a guy and I don't EVER admire men, but I think David Dechovny was pretty damn cool in this show!
shareThat had to be some of it, at least for Duchovny, but Handler? The dude played a guy who got nothing but the short end of the stick. His character's first arc was how he gets fired for masturbating at work and his wife eats, cheats, and leaves. He's constantly mocked for a short, bent wang and being a "quick-draw". Yes, he got with some lovely ladies, and the character was consistently funny, but I don't think it was pure ego there.

He'd pull shit like trying to persuade Scully and the rest of those researchers to not destroy the aliens that were taking over people's bodies in episodes like Ice
Fair enough, but I get why somebody wouldn't want to just wipe out extraterrestrial life. Even Captain Picard only wanted to destroy life as a last resort.
