Who Else Could Have Played W.W.
As good as Bryan was in the role who else would you pick to play the role. My number one pick would have been Edward Norton, to me it just seems like his kind of role maybe because of the film Fight Club.

James Spader or Walton Goggins.
shareNorton, my opinion, would not have had the right sad-sack, downbeaten energy for selling the first version of Walt that we see. He wouldn't have been as good at the family man emerging from his chrysalis Walt in the first two seasons. I think as the show went on, evil Walt would have been done really, really well.
The tough part of recasting Walt is, while possible, it's hard to even imagine because Bryan did such a stellar job. Further complicating the recast is the fact that Walt needs to go from being amusing and almost laughable all the way to scary. We have to buy "henpecked husband" and "mocked high school chemistry teacher" both for pathos and comedy. As the show progresses, we need to buy "mastermind," "evil genius," and "major underworld player." Who can do that? Well, I guess Bryan Cranston can...
But, if I'm recasting it, I'd do John Goodman. He's a touch older than Bryan, but I don't think it would have been a problem. John Goodman can go from weird and comedic to utterly menacing, and I think he could have handled Walter White.
Good choice he was a good creep in that Kevin Bacon film I don't recall the name of.
