Who would you have picked. Peronally i think ending up with April was the right choice.

I would have been probably been with Summer... April would always be my #1 but she did not return his calls for the longest period. If i were him, i'd just give up and go after someone else. For me it'd be Summer as i hate cheats and Emily cheated

For Will, I think Emily was actually the best choice (aside from the eventual divorce).
April actually treated him poorly. Not talking to him for years at a time. She didn't even believe in marriage.
Summer was a weirdo.
Emily seemed most in line with his general values. Will seemed like he was a family oriented guy with strong convictions about public policy. Emily seemed more in line with those values. Yes, she cheated, but she was just scared and was trying to sabotage the relationship. When they met up again years later, she had matured quite a bit and I think the cheating thing is something that was buried in the past and not really something that would have been an issue in the future.
For me personally, All three are attractive.
Emily is too uptight and inflexible for me. Summer is a weirdo. So I would go for April. I wouldn't care if we lived together forever and never got married.

April. Will and April were the most compatible and although they were platonic friends there always seemed to be this simmering attraction between them.
I'm not sure why Summer liked Will, though. She seems to like more intellectual, cynical people like Hampton, and Will is more of an idealist. Perhaps she was seeking stability and became fed up with Hampton's wild ways.

I think that Emily always understood herself better than Will did. The reason that they broke up the first time was the same one that did in their marriage. Emily valued security, while Will liked risk-taking and flying without a net. To accomodate his wife, I believe that he took a job that he hated. Over time it forced him to see that their wants and needs were incompatible although they were both good people. They got back together initially when they were both frightened and afraid because of some life failures and broken relationships. They clung to something familiar.
Summer and April were better matches for Will. Summer,however, was never emotionally divorced from her mentor. April was Will's best friend. That's always the best choice if you can find it.

Emily's the hottest but if it were me, I'd go for Summer cause her personality is more my type. For Will though, I think Emily was the best. April is too weird for his vanilla personality.
sharei'm pretty sure that april was the most likable love interest for will in the movie. o_O that's her character, that's her charm, that's what she's supposed to do. although, i did find it weird that she threw the book away when she kept the others, i don't know what that meant!
i also liked summer. she didn't come out as the bad person to me when she did the article. even when she's supposed to be, i think. she seemed like a genuine human being to me.

She never threw a book away. She lost the book that her dad gave to her and inscribed on her 13th birthday so she collected other Jane Eyres with inscription. Then Will found the Jane Eyre her dad inscribed to her and after several years, gave it back to April. And April kept that book. share
I was in LOVE with Summer during the whole movie! Beautiful, smart, sophisticated, just odd enough... she was great.
But I agree that April was the best choice for Will.
As for Emily... she was just meh.
