How did I sit through this messs?

I don't know how I sat through this mess of a movie. It was absolutely absurd.

reply

It was bad. Didn't like it at all.

reply

its not boring to say the least. it is retarded i will give u that

reply

Guess you don't believe in science. That's ok. Science believes in you.

Nolan's worst movie.

reply

Perhaps you preferred the ridiculous mess that was "Gravity"?

reply

Do you know how irritating it is when someone make that orthogonal logical jump into irrelevance. When someone says something about a movie you cannot assume how they feeling about another movie ... them's just the facts.

reply

The problem with this film is the terrible central plot hole someone brought up on another thread here.

Namely - no matter how clever some might convince themselves the science behind this film is, there is utterly no reason why the evolved future humans would have any reason to save the failed branch of humanity shown.

As someone said on that thread, the only explanation is "because love"! And that is the best you're ever going to get from this supposedly scientifically accurate movie. What a joke...

reply

Ahem, we're the only branch there is to save. Minor detail you overlooked.

reply

Ha - If we're the only branch there is to save then we don't need saved as the evolved future humans must come from further down the line of the same branch.

i.e. They already survived!

reply

It's a causal oop: in order to evolve we need to get help from our future selves but we get the help because we evolved.

reply

You can say that again.

reply

Possibly but as someone wisely pointed out on that other thread:-

"It's like Marty couldn't travel back to 1955 and kick off his causal loop with his parents if Aliens had arrived in 1980 and entirely destroyed the planet. Only a Marty from an alternate future where the Aliens didn't arrive could possibly do that..."

And even if you didn't want to accept the logic of that you still have to counter it with the a logic which suggests that a humanity which wasn't quite wiped out (counter to the main premise of the movie!) and has reached such an evolved state that they built the tesseract (/ set the wormhole as well?) yet are still troubled that thousands of years before they've reached that incredible state they went through tough times so should do something about it! It's laughable.

Just as laughable as if you discount a causality loop and claim many worlds is at play here. In which case a branch of humanity which didn't have the troubles depicted in this film decides to save a failed branch (one of potentially infinite branches no less) just because...

Neither premise works and therefore the film is based upon an absurd plot hole whichever way you want to look at it.

reply

It's nice that you figured out time and causality for yourself. Please inform the world as the rest is still struggling with all the possible models.

reply

Oh dear. If only I hadn't said it didn't work whatever model was used rather than claiming to have anything "figured out"! Unfortunately, whilst I take it this banal attempted deflection means you understood what I was saying, this response has as much merit as the "because love" explanation.

However sadly, in fitting with the theme being discussed here, no doubt stating this obvious fact will cause another "genius" level riposte from yourself...

reply

I understand. Good luck with your recovery.

reply

It's a causal loop: in order to evolve we need to get help from our future selves but we get the help because we evolved.

reply

You can say that again.

reply

I liked the score and some concepts but it is a Trainwreck of a movie.

reply

Ah, concepts!

This was a well-made, entertaining movie for people with an attention span. For the others, there's always "Star Wars" and "Guardians of the Galaxy".
