THE PEOPLE DEMAND A SEQUEL!!

reply

I'm with the people.

reply

Agreed. I'm still curious as to why there wasn't one. The movie, by all accounts, turned a profit. So, why no sequel?

reply

People are looking for something fresh and new.
Sequels are neither.

If it harms none, do what thou wilt.

reply

What people? Most successful movies these days are sequels, reboots, remakes, adaptations, etc.

reply

Please NONE of the following:

- sequel
- prequel
- remake

Leave this movie as is.

"In a gun-free world, the sword is king."
"Stop the world! I wanna get off."

reply

Hell yes to a sequel. It was planned as a trilogy. It warrants one.

reply

i dont get this type of thought.
no matter if five sequals, prequels, remakes, etc... are made, even if they are all horrible dreck. this movie will remain as it is. it wont harm it or its reputation in the least.
why people always say this whenever a remake or sequel is proposed is beyond me.
i just dont get it.

it was planned as a trilogy originally anway, so there most be a screenplay or some idea of a plotline out there somewhere. I dont get why it wasnt made. maybe cause it would be a breakeven venture at the least?

this was an amazing film though that not enough people appreciated. Id love to see more of Mr Brooks and Marshall and even his daughter. thought that was an excellent little side bar about her being a murderer also.

so much left unexplored.

i loved whenhe killed dane cook haha

The back and forth banter of Costner's and Hurt's characters are enough to justify a sequel in its' own right. I found myself laughing on cue to William Hurt's often hilarious remarks. They are so smooth together that it's a shame they havent worked together since. I would be first in line to see the sequel.

reply

I'd love a trilogy for this too.

But don't think that bad sequels can't ruin the originals. Best example is matrix 2 & 3. Sequels can tie up all the latent ideas and imaginings the viewer had for the original and tie them up in a bad aftertaste that you'll always remember with the original.

reply

I agree - I want a sequel.

The good news is that IMDB has a page now of a movie called "The Devil Mr. Brooks" slated for 2012. No cast, no info, just a preliminary page... but it's a sign of hope.

reply

I loved this movie, so naturally I'd want to see another one.

At the same time, I don't. This movie is perfect the way it is. A sequel/prequel/reboot would screw everything up.

five midgets
spanking a man
covered in thousand island dressing
is that love?

reply

Hate to potentially pop the bubble, in that I dig the heck outta this movie myself, but the net has reference to the devil mr brooks being about a haunted english family. There are films made with the same title all the time, so hope this isn't it, but thought I'd say it.

I will say I met Kevin Costner briefly at a Modern West show in Texas a ways back. I said to him 'You ought to make a sequel to Mr. Brooks.' He smiled and said 'Yeah,I should. Shouldn't I.' So who knows?

reply

I would love to see a sequel to this too. What a great movie!!!

reply

doesnt need a sequel, this movie already explores the sensitive subject matter
it's hard to do a sequel w/o repeating everything in the original and still remain fresh

According to boxofficemojo.com, Mr. Brooks earned 48 mill USD. With a budget of 20 mill USD, the movie should have made a decent profit and make a sequel possible?

reply

He said he should, but he won't..... Kevin Costner never makes sequels.

reply

I don't pay to go to movies much. Nearly never... But I would probably pay to see a sequel to Mr Brooks more than once...

"I don't patronize bunny rabbits."

reply

Yes it should

I would pay to see a sequel of this fantastic movie.

reply

Sequel ! Sequel !

reply

Agreed! I would love to see another film with these characters. Explore the world of Mr. Brooks and his up and coming serial killer in training daughter. Atwood is obsessed with finding the Thumbprint Killer and her mental stability is suffering greatly because of it. I would pay to see a sequel to a very underrated film such as this one.

reply

here here, i want a sequel as well, even if Costner wasn't in it - I was thinking maybe it could be about his daughter's "urge"

reply

Normally, I'm not one for sequels, but I think in this case, I would make an exception. SEQUEL! SEQUEL!

reply

SEQUEL SEQUEL SEQUEL SEQUEL SEQUEL SEQUEL!!
Yeah I agree, loved this movie, ending really left me extremely interested.. I wanna see what he does!!

reply

Just sat down and watched the film for what's gotta be around the tenth time(the first two when I rented it; I bought it soon after). Myself, and a bunch of people that I know(many of whom I turned onto the film) would be there opening night for the sequel.

Take my advice. Watch "Stella". It's hysterical. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0443409/
