How Can This Be Rated PG-13 is Beyond Me

How can this movie be rated PG-13 and show a full view of breasts and nipples?

reply

This film only contained less than three seconds of nudity; half the people on this board didn't even catch it. You need to get over yourself. Exactly how are a pair of breasts going to damage our children?

Why to people think womens breasts are so different then mens?

to the OP... I guess the simple answer is that it's just a changing of the times. Remember when in gone with the wind they said "Damn"? Nowadays you can say what I think it's 1 F-word and 5 S-words and still get PG-13... Anyways a little flesh is not what disturbs me in particular. I understand where you're coming from and I don't know you're background and don't care to know, but I DO know that religious organizations use nudity as a soapbox to preach morality. Look at Mrs. Palin the ultra conservative with the knocked up 17 yr old unwed daughter. Practice what they Preach? hardly... anyways I'm getting off topic. What concerns me more is...... Ridiculous amounts of violence that can get PG-13. No blood? But still violent = pg-13. Killing someone without blood seems more obscene than showing blood. making killing less terrible. lol come on.

I think you saw them when they tossed Matthew McConaughey a beer while he was hanging on to the cooler to stay afloat. Right before they save him, one of the girls flashes him. So maybe if they're shown from far away it downgrades the rating? But yea I think it is a very subjective rating system.
Holy crap! I thought I had a keen eye...I swear I didn't even notice anyone "flash" him...gonna have to check out that part again. It would've made my night...I thought the movie was average at best.

Actually, movies with that little nudity in them used to get PG ratings. It doesn't even deserve to be a PG-13; it should have been PG.

Wow, goes with the transformers 2 rant on language, people are happy to expose their children to violence but naughty language and slight nudity ate taboo, I gotta agree with the South Park creators on it, watch their movie, unfortunately it rings true. Movies in the 80's were pg and had sexual activity, mom and dad let me watch, yet set me out of the room to miss the good stuff, I'm much older now and am not harmed by it, so what's the big deal. Keep the kids off the beaches, a boob could pop out and destroy their innocence.

omg nooooooo , the human body ? , how disgusting !

reply

Speaking of breasts, why doesn't Kate Hudson get a boob job. She looks like a boy on top.

reply

That's not that unusual in a PG13 movie. In fact, in the days before they added PG13 to the rating system, a bit of boobage was common in PG films.

SimpsonFan, are you serious?? Can you be this much of an idiot? A PG13 rating was perfectly appropriate. Breasts are nothing. Breasts are NON-GENITAL NUDITY, the same as buttocks are non-genital nudity. I see men's bare asses in PG13 rated movies all the time, so why shouldn't a woman's non-genital nudity be shown for a change? Who could be offended by breasts? Women go topless on most beaches in Europe, they are often topless in African countries, and its legal even in Canada for women to go topless in public! Stop trying to repress the female body! It is just a woman's breasts, not her genitalia, and it was in a NON-SEXUAL context. You need to grow up. Go back to watching Sesame Street!

because you need to stop being irritated about showing a human beings private parts in a movie and enjoy it for what it is..are you too immature to handle seeing breasts in a movie without giggling and widening your eyes? Does that one brief part in a movie stick in your mind because you are so immature and can't get over the fact that you saw nudity? Then did you realize you are seeing a pg-13 movie? stop complaining and, also, it wasn't even explicit or shown in a sexual matter. *beep* OFF

Calmn down, ol' boy.

To the OP: Have you ever seen a movie from the 80's called "Sixteen Candles"
oh my god, they *beep* i n g forgot my birthday, close up view of breasts and more sexual situations. I realize there was no pg-13, but if anything, THAT could have been an R rating. Fool's Gold, not so much
