What did you give this movie?
I gave it an 8 cause I really liked it
shareRated it 2/10.
Not only for the terrible script, acting, lighting but also because AvPR didn't have an ounce of fun in it.
Bad movies can be entertaining. AvPR is a complete bore.
BB ;-)
it's just in my opinion - imo -
A 5 b/c I was feeling generous.
sharei give it a 2, one for each of the brothers strause that ruined this movie
right....
I gave it a 7.
I think those who say this movie is absolute rubbish fall into one of two categories.
1. Those who don't like this type of movie (violent/sci fi/horror)
2. Those who think it is 'cool' to not like this movie
In regards to point 2, I guarantee that if this movie was the same but they substituted The Alien and The Predator with just two other alien species, those who hated this movie would rate it higher.
Granted there must be a percentage of people who fall into your two categories but I disagree that those are the only two reasons for disliking AVP:R. I don't dislike violent, sci-fi, or horror movies nor do I find it cool to dislike it. I went to see it wanting love it. I left the theatre dejected and revolted. I love the first AVP movie.
Namely, what I find objectionable, is the utter disrespect the directors showed to both the Alien and Predator franchises. In the director's commentary they flat out laugh at fans of the Aliens franchise, saying "this is the part where Aliens fans leave the theatre", when the predator squishes an alien head and yet is completely unaffected by the acid blood of the alien. The aliens are so un-formidable, they're so small and weak and stupid, nothing at all like in any of the other movies they are seen in. The Predator's prowess has nothing to do with this.
Also, just the general story and the countless plot holes. Why is only one Predator sent to contain this grave situation? Why does he bother to cover up evidence with that blue liquid if he then proceeds to string up people he's skinned, and causing a huge commotion firing his cannon?
And then there's the character development. It's like an episode of Dawson's Creek, teenager garbage. We're introduced to characters who are killed immediately, all horrible actors.
And then there's the embarrassing dialogue. It's not funny, it's not cute, it's not clever, it's just stupid. Do you see how embarrassed the lady who says "the government doesn't lie to people" is? I'll bet she argued against delivering that line. It's cringe-worthy. And the endless misplaced homages, "get to the chopper", so poorly delivered, just destroys the original. There's a bit of that in Prometheus, too "We.. are.. leaving!"
Then there's the ridiculous creature design for the "predalien". So dreadlocks are part of a the predator anatomy?
And there's no need to even mention the lighting.
It's a 2, and it only gets the 2 out of pity. I'm glad you like it, though.
If IMDb allowed it, I would have given this movie 0/10. Since I couldn't, I gave it 1/10.
There are no characters in this movie. All of the humans are bland and have no discernible personalities or traits who are given other humans as props like the woman who has a daughter or the main guy having that girlfriend. The small band of main people keep running into other people who join up only to be killed ten seconds later because the movie can't go five minutes without killing off anyone, so they keep inserting more people in just so they can be killed. Also, the creatures are shown within the first five minutes, which goes against rule number one of creature movies: Don't show your monster within the first thirty minutes.
I gave it a 10, it's what the first one should've looked like, alien vs predator 2 was no rules, no boundaries, anything goes,
shareA strong 6(unrated version)
