Futurama for sure shoudn't have been cancled im not sure about arrested development though , some of the humour was lame , the best guy on the intire show was jobs (or gobs or whatever) black puppet franklin best puppet i've seen in a long time i tell you hwhat
I defy anyone to pick up the DVD, and watch the episode with Marshall and his Japanese exchange student girlfriend, and tell me the scene where they are arguing with their talking translators isn't one of the funniest scenes in television history.
I loved futurama and Arrested development. But they were both expensive shows to produce. So it's not all that surprising that they would be cancelled.
totally! Undeclared is definetely one of the funniest shows ever made. Ive yet to show it to someone and have them dislike it. WONDERFALLS was a great show too.
Third on Wonderfalls. I would rank the Wonderfalls cancellation as one of the top 3 most disappointing cancellations of all time. Firefly makes the top 3 list as well.
Wonderfalls and Firefly were friggin TV magic. To this day, I've never seen an ensemble cast get along so well onscreen as Firefly.
Greg the Bunny makes the top 10. As does Futurama. Both were brilliant, hilarious and brimming with potential.
Those are the first shows that come to mind. I'm sure that if I thought about it, I could come up with at least one more on the top 10 list that Fox dropped. 5 out of 10 of the most dissapointing cancellations of all time is, as far as I'm concerned, proof that Fox are a bunch of serious bone heads.
Undeclared's cancellation was a big disappointment (definitely top 20), although it pales in comparison to the loss of Judd Apatow's previous series, Freaks and Geeks (dropped from NBC). Freaks and geeks was, for me, definitely number 1 on my all time list. But, being NBC, that's another discussion. I only bring it up as it relates to Undeclared. Apatow has definitely gotten the short end of the stick from network television. Fortunately, the movie biz seems to be recognizing his worth (40 year old virgin, Anchorman, Kicking and Screaming, Talladega Nights, etc.). Or maybe I should say "unfortunately," as Apatow's film success might prevent him from ever returning to television. Should this occur, it would be a very sad day for network TV.
The shows that aired on FOX that I actually enjoyed that got cancelled are:
The PJs
The Casino
Greed: The Series
Futurama
Family Guy (I would like to thank God that the show was brought back)
The Rich List (only after one episode? Is this a record for the fewest episodes shown on FOX?)
I know that this post is talking about shows that got canceled on FOX, but I just have to say this. The shows that aired on the then station called UPN that got canceled that I enjoyed are:
Shasta McNasty
The Mullets
Game Over
Gary and Mike
Chains of Love
I'm glad that UPN got canceled but if UPN hadn't got canceled then the two stations that I would say that suck because of the number of shows that get canceled only after a few episodes or seasons would have to be UPN and FOX. I only watch FOX for Family Guy and American Dad and I only watch UPN (when UPN wasen't canceled) for WWF SmackDown!
Arrested Development (I was hoping Showtime would pick it up!)
The PJ's (okay, stone me, but I really liked that show!)
Ant BTW..I thought that Fox had a hit with animation night on Sundays. They should stop trying to put in live action because it blows, unless it IS at 9:30 PM.
King of the Hill The Simpsons Family Guy Futuramma
Prestty neat programming. Take a page, find more like this cause they are getting old. Give "Adult Swim" a run for their money! (And they don't have much money, but AT LEAST they are trying!)
All crimes perpetrated in the name of celebrity will be rewarded by celebrity itself.
Really like the 1st 2 seasons of The OC. The women in the show were all pretty hot but I think it was the strength of the Seth character that really carried the show.
WONDERFALLS should have run for at least 3 or 4 seasons instead of only 4 eps. Has NE1 seen the DVD? Does it contain the unaired eps (I believe that 13 eps in all were filmed).
Forgot about TRU CALLING. It should have gotten at least 1, preferably 2, more seasons. Noticed that IMDB users have given it a rating of 8.0 out of 10. Sounds about right. Hard to believe that a show that garnered that kind of rating only lasted 2 seasons. Don't think that Fox tried hard enough to let this show find its audience.
Thanks, jim20walker, I was wondering how Firefly could have been left off the list for so long! Probably the best of many really great shows that Fox let slip through their fingers so they could put garbage like Paris and Nicole Skank Across America.
