.. I don't think it was really worth a 7.7 rating... It was a great feel-good movie, but I think it was worth more of a 7.1 or 7.2.. Was the high score due to the fans of the book, or do people really think this was a very well made film? Let me know what you think! :)
Quite enjoyable at first run, but when i watch it for the second time, kinda boring.. The casts are good, the characters are believable, i just think i might not like to see it for the third time. I'd like to read the book tho!
I thought it had many brilliant parts. The effects were remarkable and the sets were great. The story was cooking along quite well and I loved the quirky characters particularly Robert de Niro and the dead guys.
Then, I don't know , it over-extended some things. I felt that the director wanted to make Michelle Pfeiffer the focus of the film for too long. I've noticed before in a big budget movie that a director can get hung up playing with his expensive toys and I feel that's what happened here. The suspense didn't keep building; it would deflate and then start up again. It made me tired which made me sad because I was really enjoying the story for the most part.
This is my favorite movie hands down, so I gave it a ten. There's so much that I love in this, the characters are layered and complex, and I love how they all have different dialog patterns. Another reason I love it so much is because I think it's actually better than the movie, something I've only said once before. Don't get me wrong, I ADORE Neil Gaiman and I've yet to find anything by him that don't like. Stardust is a very good book, but I think the movie is better.
THIS is your favorite movie? I mean it's a decent film but far from perfect in my opinion. I think u need to see more movies if this is your favorite cus it's not that great.
Hey, it's my opinion, you don't need to be so rude. Also, different people look for different things in a movie. I'm an escapist. I watch movies mainly to distract me from the real world. So memorable characters and a fantastic setting are quite important to me. Sure, the plot might feel a bit cliche at times, but I don't mind that. No matter how anxious or depressed I am, Stardust never fails to sweep me up in the story and make me happy. There isn't another movie that does that nearly as well as this one. So yeah, Stardust is my favorite movie and will likely remain so for a good long time, no matter how many movies I see
The film is quite entertaining but the plot really stretches for justification at times and some laughs seem very forced. Not bad. But definitely not 7.7
I love this movie, I've continued to watch it over the years and it's still just as good as the first time. It's an excellent adventure, fantasy, fairy tale movie that is beautiful and heart warming. For the type of movie it is, I easily give it an 8 or 9. I've read the book as well, and although it is different I still love it. I actually read the book first, being a fan of Neil Gaiman, and I still enjoyed it thoroughly. The cast is great too.. I'm huge fans of Robert De Niro and Claire Danes.
I think this is a good film but I would have to agree it's not worthy of a 7.7 rating. While it's entertaining for the majority of the time it seems the pacing of the film is a bit like a roller coaster and not in a good way mind you. It defiantly has some flat moments which can make the film seem a bit long, and a bit confused on where it wants to go. Also the scene where Michelle Phifer just let's Charlie Cpx and Claire Danes go and then shuts the door and goes back to kill them makes no fu(king sense whatsoever. She had Claire Danes tied up and Charlie Cox at the end of her blade. I mean she goes all over the place trying to get Claire Danes, she finally gets her so she can rip out her heart and find immortality and then decides to just take chance when she's got it all in the bag, come on. It just doesn't seem believable even in a fairy tale setting. Good movie but far from great and with some holes in it's walls.
I think it deserves a 7.7 rating although I rated it 7 because If you're really into these kinds of movies this must be one of the best since The Princess Bride.
