Musical Episodes in Sitcoms
Why do they do it? Is there a target audience that actually likes musical episodes? Reminds me of when Scrubs and How I Met Your Mother tried the same thing and failed.

shareI dont see why they needed to do ANOTHER musical episode
Nightman Cometh was a great interpretation of a musical. This episode was overkill.

i forgot for a moment that HIMYM had a musical ep, but as far as i think i remember... i think i enjoyed it :)
the scrubs musical ep was one of the show's best, especially considering that they did it when the show was already starting to lose quality.
i love musical eps (Buffy's was probably the best musical ep i've ever seen, with a great explanation for it) and thought this one was fun. they way they did it fit with the tone of the show, don't know how else they could've done it.
and yeah, the actors obviously enjoy performing, they do it all the time (i think my all-time favorite is Dee's Mom song)
"Angel Investigation - we hope you're helpless" - Doyle
So did I, and I really, really despise musical episodes. Even when House M.D. (2004) attempted to do one, it just didn't fit in a medical drama.
I hate it when producers and writers think they need to have one. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia did this twice already; once for The Nightman Cometh (2008), and again in The High School Reunion Part 2: The Gang's Revenge (2011).
This seems to be a recurring theme for this show. I get that they can sing, but my goodness, do they really need to force it down our throats? Ugh...
The gang loves, loves, loves music and Charlie Day loves writing numbers for the show, so this episode was par for the course and no surprise to any actual fan of the show. Not forced down out throats.
shareWhen did House do a musical episode? I've watched all of House at least twice and I don't remember it.
I personally loved the episode.
The plastic tips at the ends of shoelaces are called aglets. Their true purpose is sinister!
I believe it was Bombshells (2011).
Cuddy was dreaming at the time, so they somehow managed to slip a musical into the episode.
I've only seen it once, and that is when it originally aired in 2011. Maybe my opinion has changed since then. I'd have to watch it again, but I still stand by my original argument.
I was about to comment about Buffy. I'm pretty sure they started the trend.
shareThe humor is in in the lyrics. The irony of having a nice song with messed up singing..
Musicals are also a way to have the actors display their abilities
