Paul Dano ruined the film
We was total miscast, he ruined with his shitty over the top acting
shareThat nigga can't act
shareA more charismatic actor who actually doesn't look like a child molester but someone who is capable of influencing others would have been more preferable.
shareTakes one to know one I suppose.......lmao...πππ.....anyhow you idiot....he did a good job in the role....
shareCanβt argue with that. He does scream paedo, and is inherently annoying in a pompous and self-conscious way, but then again the character was supposed to be a total dick, and on that level he is a triumph of casting and acting.
No doubt, they definitely cast the right creepy guy. I loved his performance.

I thought he fit what they were going with. He has the look of the sort of weak-willed character they were going for. Not that I think Dano himself is as pathetic as his character in real life, but he has that certain look if that makes sense.
shareI have no idea what you're talking about. Paul Dano delivered an excellent performance. His character was practically vital for this film to even go on. I mean, sure, he was annoying. But then again, that was the point. He was an annoying person who was getting in Daniel's way. And I don't know what you mean by 'over the top acting'. He was portraying a religious maniac. With that being said, it's only logical that his character would be dramatic and a bit over the top.
shareI have zero problem with him. I think he works perfectly here. Eli is almost as bad as Plainview. He is a narcissist, is willing to deceive and destroy to get what he wants.
shareHe did a good job.
DD Lewis, was in character on and off the set of that movie.. That meant Paul Dano probably wasn't going to get any acting tips from Daniel Lewis..
I don't know about anyone else, but Lewis, can be an intimidating individual on/off movies sets.. Just to co-lead as the villain probably wasn't the most fun experience one would have playing his role.
No he didn't. He was really good in the movie.
shareI thought so too, until his head was bashed in. The payoff was worth the annoying character.
