What the hell is Tobey Maguire doing in this?

Was he to be the 'Elisha Cook Jr.' of the film ? I never bought Elisha as the tough guy type - the original 'wanna be'. Psycho maybe but not tough guy.
Well, for that matter, I never bought Bogies ability to land a 'hay maker' (s) either.

What is he doing in this? Mercifully (for the audience) dying soon. He REALLY sucked in this.

Fifteen minutes in, I was wondering the same thing myself. Who is this guy sleeping with to keep getting parts? I mean... Pleasantville maybe but now he's playing tough guys and crazy dudes? lol
