Season 4 still the best.
According to the votes of each episode for each season, season 4 is still the highest rated season... I don't think that'll change unless we get a better showrunner.

shareSo a reason to change a showrunner is because s4 has 0.1 better IMDb score than s9? Seems legit.
shareThat's obviously not the reason lol. Just saying it's got the best rating so far and I doubt moffats seasons will beat it. Maybe later someone will be able to do something better.
But yes the show runner needs to change moffats been terrible.
Who cares about votes
shareVote indicate a general public preference.
General public preferences can translate into ratings numbers.
Ratings number matter to the continuation of the show.
But unless the current series are plummeting I don't think we have much to worry about.
-------------
I said I'd feed you...I didn't say who to.
Not at all it doesn't for any series because not every single person who watches the show will vote on every single episode in the shows history, most will probably vote 1 or 2
shareSeries 4 is my favorite (followed by 3, 1, 9 and 8) as well but IMDb ratings aren't exactly meaningful unless there's a huge difference. David Tennant seems to have more fangirls than the rest of the Doctors combined (for better or for worse) so it's not a big surprise the episodes near the end of his tenure would have better ratings on average.
Do you even know what honor is?
- A horse.
In terms of popularity - sure.
In terms of actual quality - nah.
Let's roll some tits up the flagpole and see if anyone gets wood.
It's best to not pay attention to what others think and simply enjoy what you enjoy.
shareSeries 4 was perfection. Not a bad episode out of the bunch, and it had the best companion of the lot. I'm still waiting for a Donna Noble/12 story. I think they would play off each other so well - and Donna deserve to have her story fixed.
shareThe Doctor's Daughter.
shareAnd Partners in Crime. Turning fat into cutesy little people? Seriously?
And Planet of the Ood. Not terrible, but pretty naff. "They are so peaceful because they hold their brains in their hand."
And The Sontaran two-parter. "Hey, you know, we could break the windscreen!" Setting the atmosphere on fire - did it even occur to RTD that that sort of thing might have consequences?
And Midnight. The sort of play you write in junior school.
And that godawful finale. Not quite as bad as the finale to Series Three, but still terrible.
So this is permanence, love's shattered pride.
What once was innocence, turned on its side.
For me , the Ood episode was mediocre, I liked Partners in Crime because of David's and Catherine's chemestry and performance and the sontarans was ... Idk... All i have to say is to say the opposite and you fool one of the oldest races in the universe (when The Doctor was stuck in the car).

No, when The Doctor and the colonel were stuck in the car (Sontaran Strategem/Poison Sky)
shareIt makes no sense RTD was off the rails at that point and it only carried over to the terribly written specials.
shareWhile it is the best of the RTD era, it's still not great. Not a truly terrible episode, unlike Series 1-3, but plenty of mediocre efforts, like Partners in Crime, Planet of the Ood, The Doctor's Daughter, and The Unicorn and the Wasp.
Season 14 is still the best. The Hand of Fear isn't great, but The Deadly Assassin, The Robots of Death and The Talons of Weng-Chiang are brilliant and The Masque of Mandragora and The Face of Evil are good as well.
