How can people think this is a good movie?

I'm not a troll and I'm not trying to start any kind of flame war, but I really don't get it. This story was muddled and the characters were poorly developed and seemingly caricaturized. Rarely have I gone into a movie and felt NOTHING for the main characters. Bale (whom I usually love) was over the top in more ways than Sly Stallone could ever dream, Freddy Rodriguez was mildly sympathetic, and the rest of the cast felt forced and awkward.
I saw this in theaters with two friends and an empty house behind us. The most dramatic moments in the movie elicited nothing more than laughter, and "pistos" has since become a joke when referring to beer. As a comedy, this movie is mediocre, and as a drama, it's a step above (I've been trying to think of an awful drama for 10 minutes and I can't; don't judge).

Someone either tell me what I'm not getting or tell me I'm not crazy.

They do suggest at first with heavenly shows."

I agree. The only redeeming quality of this film was the acting.

🐺 Boycott movies that involve real animal violence (& their directors) 🐾

To connect with charters or not depends on your own personality setup.
This has nothing to do with IQ or if you are righteous or not.
It just has to do with the way one sees the world.
Everyone is different, you are not crazy.

If you are looking at this movie from the layman perspective you miss the point. For me, I see it as a stroke of hidden comedy genius. Mike and Jim are unbelievably idiotic. Their level of immaturity is so ridiculous that I can't help but laugh. Funny points that the average viewer will miss:

- Mike receiving lunch money from his chick. Priceless
- Mike acting smug to his chick about callbacks. Can also relate to this
- Jim stating "I gotta get married" when he learns that he ain't fit for the LAPD
- "Fu** the styx, LA city's the shi* What a *beep*** immature quote. Loved it
- Leo the cop. What a complete douche. "blink and die scumbags". Too funny
- Toussant scene at his apartment. Lives in an LA *beep* uses a communal shower yet still has 300 bucks to blow on a weapon he don't need.
- Daryl failing to explain why he was incarcerated. All we get is "some *beep* and that his "lawyer cleaned him out". Brilliant
- Daryl looking to stay clean yet insisting that he will "bring the Heat" to any *beep* trippin around. Excellently contradictory
- The scene in the petrol station. They steal 3 cigarettes. In the long run it would have been easier and more effective to simply pay for a pack as they prove later in the movie that the need more than a couple smokes unlike originally intended.
- Mike getting a job simply because he knew the guy then acting like a smart ass when he gets home and tells his chick that he is "gonna make bank" in a few months
- Jim getting upset when Mike states that he can no longer go to MExico. "what a child" This was really funny. Jim gets angry becasue Mike promised to go to Mexico. Jim missed the point entriely. " Fu** You Man.....Yeah Laters!!!!" hahahahaha

This movie is brilliant. Watch it stoned. Pretty hilarious. So stupid and nonsensical that it is actually funny. Mike and Jim literally spend a couple of days bummin around LA with nothing but immature intentions.
