Six point Five??

Are you kidding me??

This movie had great characters who were played by amazing actors, a fantastic script, a great and very gripping storyline, incredible psychological depth, and a very thrilling, edge-of-your-seat ending in the house.

Seriously, the whole house chase was fantastic. Everything leading up to that was brilliant and it felt like all the pent up emotions and whatnot finally got released.

The whole movie was fantastic, I'm really surprised I'd never seen it before just now.
I heard it was good but like so many other movies I just never got around to watching it until now.

Seriously though, what about this movie makes people think its only 6.5? Different people have different tastes of course, but I would think this would appeal to a lot of people. People who just want intensity and action? It's got plenty so you're good. People who want deep characters and great psychology? It's got plenty of that as well, so you're good.

I feel like I'm rambling now, so yeah. Why such a low rating?

I know right! I'm watching it now as I type, and what canI say, it's freaking brilliant! There needs to be a lot more movies like this, Hollywood churning out tons of fantasy movies, where's all the fast-paced intense psychological thrillers? Maybe it's just me, but there doesn't seem emough. I'd say the movie should've got a 8.5 at least. Maybe if it was rated R though, there wouldn't be so many limitations, meaning a more intense build up, threatening atmosphere etc. But nevertheless, it's a hit, or a classic even, in my opinion.

I won't give it more than 4.0. Though they are marvelous actors I just didn't feel the lead cast that binding. Even more, I felt the rest of the cast totally sub-standard. The director apparently didn't do good enough homework.

So the villain's whole plans rested solely on getting Rachel MacAdams character to get their target to switch rooms and they did all this unexplained stuff (such as someone else questioned how did he get the seat next to her?) just in hopes of getting her to get him to switch rooms. I doubt men supposedly this intelligent and powerful would have such a high stakes hit hinge on such circumstances they cannot be sure the outcome over. As much as they may have felt they had her character in a corner they would not really known that should would not have called their bluff so to speak and allowed her dad to be killed to keep herself from aiding them. Also the risk of him getting caught on the airplane, etc, etc.

I did not think it was bad. I gave it a six. It is a fun movie, but for anyone to think it is some deep psychological thriller then they must also think five feet of water in a pool is deep.

I think a 6.5 is fair if you see a 5 as average. A lot of this film was implausible and then ending was a bit of an anti-climax.

I was a lot less impressed with it the second time I watched it.

reply

Gave it a 6 as well... ending felt rushed and was a bit cheesy. It would have to be a memorable film for a higher rating and this certainly is not one. Was expecting a lot more considering Craven directed it.

reply

I gave it a 5/10. The movie didn't need to be made.

I just watched it again today..2014 and still, very much enjoyed it. Cillian was just perfect as the bad guy, Rachel did a great job and sooo gorgeous, esp kicking ass :-)
Thoroughly enjoyed watching it

I was also very surprised to see this *beep* had 6.5. I can't accept any more than 3. Gave it a 2. How can anyone enjoy such low quality rubbish?

reply

This movie is so good. I just re-watched it again. How could anyone hate it? Acting - good script - good; Enjoyment level high. It's also only an hour and a half so i find there's no filler 9/10 for me

reply

If this is 9/10 than it sets the bar VERY low for cinema in general. No one will ever need to think more than 5 minutes before making a movie. Fantastic!

reply

i think 6.5 is way to high, i gave it a 4 and think that's still pretty high for this movie, i was expecting a good thriller but it had a really bad story that doesen't made sense at all

 there's no accounting for taste I guess. I found it boring, stretched to the point of being comical, predictable and trite.
"Great characters" are usually multi dimensional and can't get summed up in a one line cliché but hey, whatever floats your boat. I'm sure you'll be very happy with cinema in the future.

I can't believe some people are taking this movie seriously. It's trash, pulp, it's not even pretending to be anything above that. I mean, the bad guys' plan is so ridiculous...

With that in mind, it still sucked.
