What a garbage...
One of very few movies that i turned off half way through.
Actors were, to put it gently, horrible. Plot would insult even for mentally challanged ape.
Do not dare to watch it.

Saw it on Film 4 last night... I have to say, I wouldn't watch it again... But, it was OK - more or less keeping my interest throughout.
I just got done taming a wild honeymoon stallion for you guys.

i thought it was good. solid plotline, nice flow to the story. i ended up watching it again afterwards
Careful you idiots, i said across her nose, not up it
The acting seemed a little bland, and I didn't have a clue what was going on throughout most of it. It did have a very creepy style about it, but I didn't find it particularly engaging. Now I've read up on what it was about I appreciate it a little more, but not enough to see it again.
shareOf course you had to turn it off halfway through....
Your favorite Barney and friends was on!
*spoilers*
It was an ok movie. The only part that really got me interested is the fact that we find there aren't 10 soldiers, but 9. I had to go back to the part where they leave the stone with the writing on it. You'll clearly see, with hindsight of course, that the last person to follow isn't part of the original 9. After that scene, my interest died as I thought to myself, any squad leader would take accountability wherever that squad went to make sure everyone is there. I guess that could be explained by the fact that in any group shot they'll only show 9 soldiers, but it still doesn't explain why Lt. Choi would believe that there were 10 members including himself in his squad, or the fact he would have received a manifest of the soldiers going along with him during his debriefing. I'm not sure how the Korean Army operates, but that's the way it goes in the United States Army. All in all, it was a good, not great, movie. It sort of reminded me of "The Descent" in that you're not quite sure if the events shown played out in one person's mind or if what you see is what really happened. Anyway, if you liked it, that's cool. If you didn't, then that's cool too.
The film worked best with its atmosphere than its plotting. Enjoyable but could have been better.
When darkness overcomes the heart, Lil' Slugger appears...
Overall it wasn't bad. It's not a movie you can really say was awful, it had some strong moments and a steady plot line - albeit an overused one - that at times wasn't directed particularly well. As for the horror aspect it fell just short, it began quite well but the suspense scenes just didn't last long enough, or carry enough weight. The actors did a good enough job as can be expected from a film that required two qualities; to look tough, then to scream like a baby, anyone expecting deep, gut wrenching acting shouldn't be watching a Korean Horror film in the first place, it's just not the place to find it.
Sure, the film has ambiguity, more as a way to allow the audience to decide whether they like psychological theories or a more paranormal explanation. Personally I went with the psychological route, not taking everything we see at face value. The film makes a constant point that these guys are not 'true' soldiers and that they were on a reconnaissance/rescue mission, not a combat one. Hence such a steady break down of mentality, lastly by the only (perhaps) true soldier on the mission, who, rather than wanting to find out if the ghosts are real or not, makes the decision to save the youngest soldier.
I realise it is hard in places to discount that ghosts were involved, but perhaps it only really takes a dense jungle, preconceptions and a spooky gravestone to get the mind going...
You should enjoy the film, that is all I am going to say. The plot tries to been deep but is actually pretty superficial and linear depending on your belief. If you're looking for a time waster and not a life changing film then you should see this.
do not feed the troll.

Lucky Ones Die Fast
Watched this movie on Netflix yesterday, it was an ok movie. I love Asian horror movies, and a fan of Korean movies as well.
Its not that i did not understand the movie, but there are a lot of assumptions to be made that leads you to another dead end to understand the events in the movies, the script writers or the producers never came here on imdb forums to clear up the confusions as well, like others do.
1. The Americans were ghosts, but why did they forbid the koreans to go to 2nd floor, repeated the orders two different time (even while leaving the premises), seems they dragged and emphasized too much for this.. was not required.. or was it.. did the opening of the second floor open a portal/vortex for the spirits to get out of that floor?
2. How did the picture of the girl with the french army get on the 2nd floor in the box, in the americans possessions.
3. The girl was a ghost in the first place from the very beginning of the movie, i get that, but how come she was found injured and covered in blood in the foxhole, typically a ghost would never get hurt and be covered with blood and be captured due to a bomb?
4. Were there more than one evil spirits in the island, who killed the girl in the first place.. or was she raped by the millitary, hence her anger?
I'd give it 6/10
