Anyone got lucky following their footsteps?

Just wondering did anybody tried their wedding crashing strategies or used any of their lines and it worked?

I did it at a funeral, it worked there.

What this movie failed to show is that at most weddings all the good looking chics show up with boyfriends or husbands or are just underage. I almost "crashed" my friends wedding over this smoking blonde in a skin tight dress that was such a nice color, but I realized she was probably too young and I was half drunk.

at the end of the day this just wouldnt work in real life. they'd say to someone we're Uncle Johns kids and they'd just say no you're not. Or Uncle Johns kids could actually be there

Well, the premise is pure fantasy, it's not supposed to work.
Major, big budget weddings are tight on security, if you're not on the list, you can't get in the church, let alone the private reception.
And even if you managed to talk your way into the wedding, the family members will "smell" your lies and deceptive tactics from a mile.

What I did manage was to sneak into some private parties. But I was usually with girlfriends in the first place, so no messing around with new girls.

In real life, it's EXTREMELY difficult to crash a wedding. At least in America. A lot of people hire security for the reception and there is usually an invitation given. I'm sure some people have been successful at it, but I can't imagine anyone being that good at it. The closest I ever came to crashing a wedding was when I was attending a wedding in a hotel and noticed another wedding scheduled in a nearby reception hall. A couple of friends and I joked about it for a moment, as we were already dressed up and in the hotel for a legimitate wedding, but they had guys checking invites at the front of the ballroom. We could have mingled with some of that wedding's guests at the hotel's bar though, but the women we saw were butt ugly.

Receptions in most countries are planned for a set number of guests who are given personal invitations.

When I was in the Navy and young and good looking, I had no trouble crashing weddings as long as I was in uniform.

is it a norm in the states to attend function wearing your job's uniform? i seen it many times in hollywood movies..

It's possible to quickly grab a free meal and get the hell out of there, but it would be impossible to draw attention and get away with it like they did.

The only time I attempted it was when I was at another wedding in the same hall. The wedding I was at was my old boss who was 50 and his wife was 40. The wedding I crashed had a mostly 20s/30s crowd and I was 32 at the time. I met a few people from the other wedding as I was out have a cigarette so they kind of took me over. It was after dinner and in the drinking dancing portion of the wedding so it wasn't a big deal.
